SlapperCast Episode 212: "Poking the Cage"
Episode 212 was recorded shortly after leaving Little Rock for Birmingham. We get caught up on recent shows and talk about what's coming up before talking about a recent video by Rick Beato in which he talks about how the future of the music industry is really completely in the hands of creators now, instead of record labels and radio stations.

SlapperCast Episode 208 was recorded last week right before a rehearsal at Patrick's lake house in Hunstville, often affectionately referred to as "Huntsvegas". We talk about "ear worm" songs, why people hated (and still hate) disco music, and what famous people we'd choose to "ride or die" with in a post-apocalyptic scenario.
Interspersed throughout are bits of footage from our rehearsal, working on new arrangements of Shane MacGowan's "Nancy Whiskey" and David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust".

This week we talk with our old friend Bob Ruggiero, music journalist and author, who's been writing for the Houston Press for over 27 years. He was the first journalist to write about Blaggards (he also did a couple articles about Patrick's previous band On the Dole). Bob not only covers the local scene, he's also interviewed countless big names like Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Brian Wilson, Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, and Dave Mason... just to name just a few. We we were also thrilled to learn during this conversation that Bob is currently working on a book that compiles some of his best interviews over the years.
