On this week's fresh episode of SlashU we're bringing you our thoughts on a sequel. We covered "The Barn" in the past and now it's time to review "The Barn Part 2" from 2022. As usual with slasher sequels, the gore and kill count is all ramped up. And since "The Barn Part 3" is coming out soon, now is a great time to visit this Halloween-themed series of movies. The story continues 3 years after the events of the first movie. Sam and Josh saved the town, but they disappeared. The sole survivor Michelle and Josh's older sister Heather are putting on a haunted house fundraiser, but all they end up doing is conjuring up the three demons from the first movie along with a few new demon friends of theirs!

This week on "Held Back" we're going back to Season 8, episode 143 of SlashU where we covered "Pillow Party Massacre" from 2023. It's a classic story of a group of young women gathered together at a cabin in the woods for a good old-fashioned slumber party. But since there's already a movie called "Slumber Party Massacre" this party had to be renamed to a Pillow Party. This episode sparked one of our first ever big-time interviews. After this episode aired, the director reached out to us and we sat down to talk to him on a later episode. Calvin Morie McCarthy, you are one amazing, patient, gracious person for talking to a couple knuckleheads who trashed your movie. Thank you!

SPOILER WARNING for Episode 1 of the Peacock original series "Crystal Lake." This week we got together virtually to discuss episode 1 of the new series on Peacock. If you have not seen it, or plan to watch it later, beware we're going to spoil the whole thing here today. We discuss our thoughts on the series, the plot, possible directions of where they're going to take it, and how it ties into the greater "Friday the 13th" canon.

This is something a bit different for SlashU, so please let us know what you think and if you think we should do more stuff like this.

Enjoy!

On this week's "Held Back" we're taking you back to 2024 and the Season 8 premier of SlashU. We covered "Laid to Rest" from 2009. It was an amazing discovery for us because we'd never seen a villain like Chromeskull before. And we covered the sequel too. This one comes up in conversation every once in awhile because we really were hoping for a part 3. Maybe it'll happen, maybe not. It's fun to imagine though.

This week we're discussing a smash hit from 2014 called "Varsity Blood." Since it's Spooky Season, and football season, we found a movie that hits both! It's the story of a group of cheerleaders and football players hiding from their past mistake from a year ago. When new girl Hannah comes to town, the past seems to catch up with the group and they spend the movie hiding from a killer dressed as their high school mascot. A tale as old as time. Listen, enjoy, and tell your friends!

On this week's throwback we're bringing you our course on "Murdercise" from 2023. It's the story of a home workout video gone wrong. The group trying to film the video falls pray to a killer and some terrible acting/dialogue. And it was all shot in an abandoned tax office or something. We had a blast talking about it and now we invite you along to re-take our course. Enjoy the show and tell a friend!

This week we covered a fresh one, from 2026 we bring you "Nameless." It's the story of a group of hikers out in the deserts of Las Vegas. They gather to honor their missing friend Alex. But when a killer stalking the desert with a burlap sack over his head who goes by "Nameless" threatens the hike, the group finds out maybe their friend isn't so missing after all. Also, the whole movie is a flashback story. Also we kind of got lost on some of the details.

This week's "Held Back" episode invites you to re-take our course on "Hatchet 3" from 2013. It's the continuing saga of poor Victor Crowley just trying to lead a peaceful cursed existence in Honey Island Swamp. The only problem is that he has to deal with an entire tactical SWAT team storming the swamp this time around. (Sigh) will Victor ever just get to chill out and look for his daddy in peace? Enjoy our throwback episode. Rate the show and share it with a friend.
