Sleep StoriesThis is the third of my sleep stories, and you will hear that it is repeated three times. I still don't know which way to go with this as I've had advice both ways: only read it once, yes, read it three times. Let me know what you think.

This is a little whimsical description dating from my lockdown walks. I would walk every day from the GP surgery where I work around the harbour of the old town I work in and come back through the park. Though I love the sunshine, it is true, as I say in the story, that I came to love my walks in the rain when there was no one else about.

Sleep Stories: The Snow TrainThis is the second episode in my new sleep stories podcast. It follows from Episode 1 (funny that) which was entitle, the House of Sleep. I just let my pen go and whimsy flowed from it. It's intended to be a dreamy, flow of consciousness story that you don't have to concentrate or listen to.

I think I had been watching Youtube videos of snowy train rides through Switzerland. My wife thinks those are boring, but I just sit and watch hours of them. Also, it probably owes a little to The Polar Express, though it doesn't go near Christmas.

In contrast to Episode 1, I didn't read this one out three times. I've had feedback both ways.

Sleep StoriesSeveral people who listen to my other podcast: The Classic Ghost Stories Podcast, said that my voice put them to sleep. At first, I was outraged, but then I realised they meant it in a nice way and why didn't I record stories specifically to make folk slumber?

I thought I'd give it a try and so I sat down and wrote a series of twenty-five little whimsical pieces, the first of which is here. This is called The House of Sleep and involves entering a magical house that is designed only for sleeping.

My brilliant idea was to read it three times—because it's only short—each time getting quieter until by the end I'm only whispering.
