Good evening and welcome back to the Sleep... with Josh podcast. It's the podcast where you sleep.... with... Josh.

Today is the Fourth day of Christmas, and kids around the world would be enjoying their gifts if they were fortunate enough to receive any. Therefore today, I will be reading a manual called Home-made Toys for Girls and Boys by A. Neely Hall. Released in 1915, this manual taught its readers how to craft small wooden and mechanical toys at home. I will be ready from Chapter 1: Home Made Windmills.

Good evening and welcome back to the Sleep... with Josh podcast. It's the podcast where you sleep.... with... Josh.

Today is the Third day of Christmas, and according to the Christmas Carol, the "Twelve Days of Christmas", today is the day Three French Hens are gifted. I will therefore be reading a collection of French recipes for cooking chicken from Margaret Brown's French Cookery Book from 1886.

Good evening and welcome back to the Sleep... with Josh podcast. It's the podcast where you sleep.... with... Josh.

Today is the Second day of Christmas and often also known as Boxing Day. Originally, Boxing Day was a holiday in Great Britain intended to focus on giving gifts to the poor. It has since become more popularized as a day of shopping with huge sales. I will therefore read something related to Boxing Day, namely, The Adventure of the Cardboard Box by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is one of the 56 short stories written about Sherlock Holmes.

Good evening and welcome back to the Sleep... with Josh podcast. It's the podcast where you sleep.... with... Josh. Did you miss me?

Tonight, is the end of the first day of Christmas and a kick off to the return of the Sleep with Josh Podcast and 12 straight days of new podcast episodes from December 25th, 2022 into the New Year until January 5th, 2023. We're coming back in a big way, so Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

We're going to start off with a reading of the classic English Christmas carol, "The Twelve Days of Christmas", which references the Twelve Days of Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a classic example of a cumulative song, where the lyrics detail a series of increasingly numerous gifts given on each of the twelve days of Christmas from Christmas Day to the Twelfth Night on January 5th which leads to Epiphany Day, on January 6th.

Welcome to the podcast where you Sleep... with Josh. Tonight, we continue reading from the classic ancient Chinese text, San Zi Jing, or Three Character Classic, in Mandarin with English translation. The Three Character Classic was written around the 13th century, and mainly attributed to Confucian scholar, Wang Ying Lin. Read and recited in couplets of three characters, the whole "poem" is under 1200 characters but represents a comprehensive overview of the main features of Confucianism. I will first read one couplet consisting of two 6 character lines in Mandarin, and then read the English translation. If you find yourself enjoying this experience please follow this podcast on your podcast player of choice and also follow me across all social media at joshyangcomedy. You can watch my first professionally produced comedy set in the YouTube Web Series, Fresh Rice Comedy Showcase: https://youtu.be/njlGEAMnNkA

Now sit back, close your eyes, and open your mind to the teachings of a 700 year old Chinese text... because you'll start dreaming in Mandarin from this podcast... guaranteed.

Welcome to the podcast where you Sleep... with Josh. Tonight, in honour of Asian Heritage Month around the world I would like to pay tribute to Asian cultures being celebrated during the month of May in many Western democratic nations, by highlighting the historic Academy Award winning Chinese filmmaker, Chloe Zhao for winning Best Picture and Best Director. Chloe Zhao became only the second woman and the first women of colour to win Best Director. I was inspired by Chloe's acceptance speech for Best Director when she quoted from the classic ancient Chinese text, San Zi Jing, or Three Character Classic, in Mandarin on the biggest stage of her career at this current moment in history as Anti-Asian discrimination and hate crimes have dramatically increased since the start of the global pandemic. I think it was pretty badass, so I will be reading the San Zi Jing in both Mandarin and English translation tonight in celebration.

Good evening and welcome to the podcast where you Sleep... with Josh.

Tonight, it is March fourteenth, the fourteenth day of the 3rd month, 3/14, which is recognized internationally as Pi Day. A day in celebration of one of the most important mathematical constants, 3.14159 non repeating or Pi, by eating dessert pie or pizza, a happy coincidence.

Pi, is defined as the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It is unique because it is an irrational number that cannot be expressed as a common fraction, but an approximation. One who's decimal representation never ends and never settles into a permanently repeating pattern. Therefore, in celebration of Pi, I will start reading the decimals of Pi until this episode reaches 31 minutes and 42 seconds.

Let's see how far I get. Now sit back, close your eyes, and relax as your body digests all the pie you ate today... because you'll start dreaming numbers from this podcast... guaranteed.

Good evening and welcome to the podcast where you Sleep... with Josh. Tonight, we will be revisiting Webster's Unabridged Dictionary from 1913, with the Letter G. A great letter at the front of many gargantuan words but with many meanings by itself. G, when used as a description of money, refers to one thousand dollars or a grand. It can also describe a unit of weight, for example, when used in a sentence "the street value of a g of cocaine is 96 USD". Colloquially, G, can also be a slang term for "gangster", and when calling someone an "OG", or "original gangster", it is used as a term of endearment.

So, in a hypothetical situation, you can buy 10 g's of cocaine for 1G, and make the exchange at the OG spot... which can be hard to find... or so I've heard.

Now sit back, close your eyes, and you'll be able to find your own spot to listen to some g's with this podcast... guaranteed.
