For our lucky 13th episode we dive into the Nickelodeon produced, Brad Silberling directed, 2004 adaptation of the beloved children's book series. We acknowledge up front that this is not "quintessential" slime, and yet it has some fascinating components to look at through the slime lens. Notably, Jim Carrey, gross-out food, and inventive precocious children.

Spooky Slime season continues with Disney's The Haunted Mansion, based on the beloved theme park ride. Our first Eddie Murphy vehicle, one of the Slime titans. In this episode, we are surprised to learn that despite all the makings of being a quintessential slimehouse movie, plus a supporting cast of slime favorites Wallace Shawn and Jennifer Tilly, we actually found this one to be a cooler entry in the Pumpkin Slime series. A group of children, desperate to keep their various parents from getting divorces, kidnap them and hold them prisoner in a basement in order to force them to reconcile. Mischief and hijinks ensue! In this episode we talk about slimehouse tropes, music, animals, food, and the colorful cast which includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Pollak, Christopher McDonald, Jennifer Tilly, Wallace Shawn, and an early role of Jennifer Love Hewitt.
