"An other year over, and a new one just begun."
Dan and Adair are looking back at the year that was 2016. And while many are quick to write off this year, your hosts find personal growth, stories they loved, and milestones that added to this long and hard fought year of the Monkey. Join us for a look back, a look ahead, and some poorly executed puns.

Creation is pain. Art is pain. And we are all in this together.

Adair and Dan look at the reasons to make and consume art. Readings and quotes, like you've come to love, are joined by songs this week. Your hosts share the songs that dig at the seeds of their own despair and the anthems of their happiness.

Songs traded, sorrow felt, joy remembered, and a partnership that won't be broken.

This is our show. It's here for you.

Fiats from The Upside Down, inappropriate coffee cups, putting out literal fires, and writing poems about poetry! This chapter is meta, manic, and maniacal.

Settling into new jobs, old struggles reemerge. Dan pull out an old piece from days when poetry first infected his blood. Adair helps him find his footing with the new juggling of responsibilities and creating new art.

Adair is sick, Dan got hired, and they get on topic eventually.

Chapter four is a turning point in this collaborative process. The nature of entertainment is to grow and move on to the next level, and as such these two are casting themselves in the movie version of their lives.

The "writers" continue drinking, waxing poetics, challenging each other.

This week, Adair and Dan outline their writing plans for November. Stories and advice from other writers (including this gem from John Irving on the podcast What It Takes) are exchanged and West World theories are are proposed and dashed.

You can find their weekly poetry offerings here.

Poetry is in our veins, Hemingway is on our minds, Texas is in our hearts, and subway etiquette is written in our blood.

Adair and Dan give the three fictional characters that best describe them, shout outs are bestowed and revoked, and the endless nights of sudden orgasms...of thought.

This week, we begin our reading series. Adair starts us off with her poem, "Listing Nouns."
