Americus, is the county seat of Sumter County, Georgia.. with a city population of a little more than 17,000 people. Its home to Georgia Southwestern State University, the Windsor Hotel, The Fuller Center for Housing's international headquarters, The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers, and many other organizations. But while Americus is rich in so much history, it is also home to the Habitat for Humanity's international headquarters.

Habitat for Humanity is a global Christian based nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 US states and over 40 countries, with its vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. I'm sure you have heard of Habitat for Humanity, most people have, but did you know that they have a six-acre village in Americus, Georgia where you can see life-size Habitat houses from countries around the world? Featuring “before and after” structures from different regions of the world the Habitat for Humanity Global Village and Discovery Center. A quasi-slum theme park, intended to give visitors a taste of how the truly impoverished live, in a third world country.
