🎙️ In this episode, Rachel talks with dietitian and behavior change coach Rena Rosenthal Cohen. They discuss strategies for women to find balance, achieve health goals, and break free from restrictive dieting, especially within Jewish traditions. They also get into Rena’s holistic self-care approach that combines mindset and mechanics for sustainable health and weight loss.
Together, Rachel and Rena talk about:
✨ Cycle of Restrictive Dieting: Extreme diets lead to short-term results but are not sustainable. This perpetuates metabolic damage and negative beliefs about weight loss.
✨ Focus on Root Causes: Effective change requires addressing the underlying behaviors, beliefs, and stories we tell ourselves about food.
✨ Fat vs. Scale Weight Loss: Differentiating between fat loss and just reducing the number on the scale is crucial. Loss of muscle mass, especially in women, can have long-term health consequences.
✨ Sustainable Weight Loss with Medications: Medications like Ozempic can be a temporary kickstart, but these need to be combined with habit and behavior changes for long-term success.
✨ Importance of Self: The foundation of any sustainable change is prioritizing self-care and recognizing one's own value.
Don’t get too obsessed about short-term successes. Stay tuned to learn how to make progress with lifetime benefits!
