"Unintentional dysfunction" is how Bonnie Kelly, life coach, author and speaker, describes the world today as there is a world of hurt people, raising a world of hurt people.
Bonnie's personal transformation began at a young age as she grew up surrounded by trauma that lead to drugs, alcohol, jail and homelessness. Her life experiences have provided her with the platform to not only share her story but to spark the conversation that we should celebrate our journeys, work through the pain and not ignore it but embrace it.
She helps people every single day go from victim to victor by helping them realize they are their own hero and they have the potential and power to save him or herself.
"One cannot have poor health and good skin" is something Dr. Sharad Paul, skin cancer expert often says. Our skin can tell us far more than we are even aware of and yet so often is neglected by humans.
Dr. Paul is shining a light on the importance of skin and how it is key to our overall well being as it plays a role in all aspects of our lives. Skin is not only the largest organ but sense of touch is the only essential sense in the human body so our skin is invaluable and Dr. Paul knows it. He is finding wellness through skin and changing the way people care for their bodies.
Not only is he treating patients, developing new surgical techniques, writing about his work but is also inspiring the younger generations to take control of their health and education.
Dr. Celine Gounder is taking on the world of disease and social injustice through treating and talking to people all over the world. She is known as the "Disease Detective" as she treats people suffering from HIV to Ebola to post surgical infections.
Not only is she a practicing physician but she is also taking on the role of Medical Journalist as she has covered topics from Ebola and Zika to the current opioid crisis.
What got Dr. Gounder interested in the world of medicine and social work in the first place? Her passion for wanting to make an impact on the world and love for science and serving others. Dr. Gounder is helping shine a light on injustices in all facets of the world by simply talking to those suffering and sharing their stories to help educate, enlighten and inspire others.
One of my favorite guests is back for another episode - Dr. Norm Shealy of Shealy Wellness. Dr. Shealy knew from age 4 that he wanted to be a physician and by age 16 knew he wanted to be a neurosurgeon so it is no surprise he is still changing the world of holistic medicine at 85.
His lifelong quest to find ways to successfully manage chronic pain has led to numerous breakthroughs in the medical field and more often than not have nothing to do with medication or the conventional way of treating chronic pain in the US.
Dr. Shealy believes the one purpose in being alive is helping people and that is what drives him each and every day.
Dr. Janice Hughes is a leader, teach and author, who has taken the executive and business world by storm through her understanding of the laws of attraction, money, and the power of thought.
She understands that our thoughts become our things and that who we are currently has attracted all the things, people, places and opportunities to us in our lives. By understanding this, it allows one to use it to their advantage and adjust their thinking for each and every environment and situation - their power of thought.
Dr. Janice uses her own life experiences to help coach others to become the master of their mindset and own their thoughts.
Micah and Diana Chaloux-Lacerte are in the business of changing lives through physical, mental and emotional transformations all stemming from personal training.
They own HitchFit Transformation Gym in Kansas City and Overland Park and HitchFit Online Training where they have helped over hundreds of people transform their lives through fitness.
The work they do goes beyond just personal training though as often times they are the first one to believe in their clients and work to help them find their true passion and purpose in life by discovering him or herself. Micah and Diana help clients believe, transform and then inspire.
Happy New Year! I want to take a second to say thank you for being on this journey with me and to share with you my exciting plans for 2018 and beyond.
This year, I am focusing even more so on investing in my own wellbeing, making a wellness plan and taking the time to stick to that plan all year long. Investing in my wellbeing can mean a lot of different things, from my nutrition to fitness to even my tribe I'm surrounded by - it all plays a part in my overall wellbeing.
Small changes that lead to big shifts is the central theme of this show and my work so I challenge you to change one thing each month this year and see how your life will be forever changed by the end of the year. Let's keep shining all the way through 2018!
1 in 9 people in the world do not have access to safe water. That means that more people have access to a cell phone than safe water. Water.org is a not for profit organization that is helping to bring safe water and sanitation to the world through small and affordable loans.
Water.org has been helping give the poor a seat at the table and making sure local financial markets work for the poor as much as they do for the affluent for over 25 years.
Nicole Wickenhauser is Director of Strategic Alliances at Water.org and is helping to empower those all over the world to make a difference by providing safe, clean and affordable water to every single person.

One of the best things you can do for your health is to get a dog. Can you imagine a doctor writing you a prescription telling you to go visit an animal shelter or adopt a rescue dog? Dr. Steven Gundry, Cardiologist and Heart Surgeon, tells this to his patients quite often as he is a firm believer that by taking care of a dog; you will then take care of yourself.
Dr. Gundry is known worldwide for his work as a Cardiologist but these days he is helping people improve and change their health through diet and a healthy lifestyle. In 2001, Dr. Gundry met with a patient who forever changed the course of his career as he taught him that most of what the everyday person eats is actually toxic to their body and health.
Now, Dr. Gundry is helping patients treat their autoimmune diseases, reverse the effects, control their weight and restore energy - all through their diet.
Dr. Will Bulsiewicz a.k.a "Dr. B", spent years learning, training and practicing to become a doctor. Once he began practicing, he was asked by patients what their nutrition should be to help deal with different GI issues, only to realize that he didn't learn about nutrition in school.
He took this realization and ran with it as he then went home and began reading and learning about how nutrition affects the body, especially with gut health. So many doctors treat patients through prescription medicines while Dr. B focuses on healing the body through nutrition.
Our gut is key to a healthy immune system and Dr. B is helping his patients love their gut, restore their gut health and enjoy their life again.
