Book Club continues with The Tainted Cup, by Robert Jackson Bennett, with the second fourth of the book. There's a fair of information to begin making some end game predictions that are across a lot of possibilities. This discussion includes - were the engineers killed in a cult, a deep appreciation for the world building side of their biological science healing, how does the dead assistant play into the greater picture, is there a bullet hole truly, why does Din have perfect muscle memory, and is someone targeting Ana and that is why she's in the outer cities?

A new book hits the ground running in Book Club this week! We've read Foundry side by Robert Jackson Bennet and decided to take on his new-ish trilogy, The Shadow of the Leviathan, starting with The Tainted Cup.

To kick off a new fantasy world, book club discusses the world building, the magic system, and the main characters. Everyone has a different visual for what the Leviathan looks like within their own mind's eye (with some millennial core references), we're enthused about Din and Ana's chemistry and banter, and have some very early full trilogy predictions on what's happening within the world.

Today, everyone has the same opinion of the end of thisbook: that it’s bad.  However, since this is book club, we get specific about our opinions and why we think certainchoices might have been made. Listen to find out!

This book may join our very short ‘highly not recommended,’along with Midnight Library and Grace of Kings.

Book club theorizes on the third quarter of The Last Contract of Isako, by Fonda Lee. theories get potentially more realistic, or more away from the truth, depending on who you agree with most! There is a beginning to some payoff with earlier foreshadowing and a heavy desire to see a bigger resolution at the end of the book to quite a few open threads concerning the greater world building developed.

Book club reads the second quarter of The Last Contract of Isako by Fonda Lee.  Book club does what it does best and schemes some wild and maybe some more realistic guesses as to what is happening with Uchi's synthbody, who has Gray's waste, why the medical records were wiped, and who is and is not still alive between Martim and Uchi.

In the final (for now) book club discussing Dungeon Crawler Carl, by Matt Dinniman, until publishing picks up with book #9, we discuss all of Horribles Two and predictions for the end of entire series.

We chat about how this book ranks against the others, some annoyances in spending page on the races, if Carl will become an/the AI, who will become the one true Ascendancy winner (is it Samantha?), how will the OIs physically look, who actually made it to the Caberet, how did we not spend more time with Mordecai as a table, and is there a mimic that's taking on the body of a crawler?

Bookclub continues to read and discuss Dungeon Crawler Carl book 8, A Parade of Horribles, by Matt Dinniman. Discussion topics include: maybe too much attention to what Imani's dog might mean, how Carl is now viewing NPC vs. Crawler lives, Carl is now a dog, wild theories on how spiders are master communicators within the dungeon, the mimic introduction was pretty well done, will the final arena just be one big crawler v mod dodgeball game, it all comes down to a pig, and the sweet friendship bonding with Pony.

Spoilers for all of DCC through the end of Ch 87. As well as a small reference to the Hunger Games.

Book club reads the next part of the most recent DCC book. Is Elle a bully? Are the war mages trustworthy? Does Jamal have a past? (As usual) what the heck is going on with Lucia?

Bookclub dives into the second chunk of the eight Dungeon Crawler Carl book, A Parade of Horribles, by Matt Dinniman. While we are not enthused by the most direct plot line of the races themselves, there are quite a few between the lines pieces that piqued our interest, including the introduction of Baby Uzi Jesus, all things Eris and coloring outside the lines, are both floors in one book, overall gods going haywire and the AI asking for help, and getting nervous about the fate of a pig.
