When we made our decision to start our own business, we made that decision based off of something that happened in our lives or something of interest that we were passionate about doing

Then for many, the next step was getting a website and starting some marketing while they told their family and friends about their new business

Or maybe you spent some time on picking out the name and designing a logo for your new business.

Did you know that coaching is an intervention?

Interventions are one of the many things that I enjoyed working with in the schools. The interventions were for students or for employees. They were at the individual, group, or system levels. 

Coaching as an intervention can be provided by individuals within an organization or outside of an organization.

As an entrepreneur or a small business owner, more than likely you would be seeking coaching from someone outside of your organization.

The biggest perk with having an external coach is that person is likely to be brining you experiences and beneficial strategies that worked in several organizations, not just one.

When was the last time that you asked yourself,

How well IS my business doing?

Seriously,

How do you know if your business is doing well or not?

Well let me put it another way....

How do you know if you are truly meeting your targets and goals that you have set for your business without a higher cost than you predicted?

Also, what are you using to make decisions about when changes are necessary for your business or what skills you might need to learn to help improve your business.

If you haven’t took time to ask yourself these questions or to be able to identify your targets and the cost of meeting those targets, or what skills you need

Then I suggest that you make some time this week to focus on this.

Just like many things in life, not every entrepreneur needs a business coach and even when you decide that you might need a business coach. 

It’s all about ensuring that you find the right business coach to match your needs

What should you consider before hiring a business coach?

A business coach is not for everyone.

So if you’re thinking about having a business, just launched your business, or you have had your business for a while.

It does not mean that you need a business coach

As I talk with others to share about what I do, there are several people that I have met that have misconceptions of what business coaches do

So that got me to thinking about why someone should hire a business coach, which then got me to think about things that people can consider before they hire a business coach.

Again, hiring a business coach is not an automatic thing to do if you are an entrepreneur.

There is the possibility that you don’t need a business coach

Mark Amend said that “rejection doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough; it means that the other person failed to notice what you have to offer.”

Rejection is a part of the entrepreneurial journey.

It’s what you do after the rejection that matters.

People don’t like to be sold. I think we can all agree with that.

But we also don’t like to be rejected.

Let’s be honest. No one likes to be rejected

It’s not a great feeling at all.

It brings out all those feelings of why and self-doubt.

You know what I’m talking about.

We start asking ourselves:

“why am I doing this?”

“why did I leave that great paying job I had?”

“Why doesn’t anyone want my product or service?”

“I guess my family was right, this business was a bad idea coz I don’t know what I’m doing.”

These negative thoughts creep in simply because we are getting rejected and we don’t have a way to deal with that rejection.

But we have to learn how to regulate those emotions, those negative disruptive emotions

But there’s something that I remind myself in the face of rejection. In this episode, I share about what that is that I remind myself about.

What do you do after you’ve found some of the issues or challenges in your business?

Sometimes we look at something and believe that it’s a problem but we don’t do any real analysis to be sure that it is the true problem or challenge.

Then what do we do next…we, as entrepreneurs, small business owners and founders, have a tendency to throw money at the problem. 

I'm talking about putting more money into the marketing strategy that was not thought out and is not working.

Signing up for 5 different courses because their description or title matches the problem that you believe you have

Signing up for more networking groups because one of them has to be helping you.

Purchasing a new computer program, graphic design program, or more automations.

Maybe buy 2 more $10K webinars that were created by people who say that they have made 6 or 7 figures because they must have the answer.

But here’s the thing....those aren’t working for you and it’s because you were missing something in your business.

In this episode, I will be sharing with you how you can figure out what you do after you know the issues or challenges facing you in your business.
