  • Addiction Is Centered In The Spirit, Not The Mind!

Aloha and welcome to episode 21 of the Sobriety Rocks Podcast, today we talk about addiction being centered in the spirit, not the mind,

Page 64 of The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous says, “When the spiritual malady is overcome, we straighten out mentally and physically”.

We also hear "addiction is centered in the mind".  So which is it, the mind or the spirit?

I say to you, "addiction is centered in the spirit". Heal the spirit, the mind and body will follow.

If you still have any type of spiritual damage which can cause negative thoughts, feeling and/or actions, please find someone who has successfully healed their spirit, and ask them to teach you the tools to heal your spirit, or contact me directly and we’ll schedule time to go over the steps to heal your spirit.

You deserve to be free and live every day with a whole spirit!

We close with a brief spirit lifting meditation.

  • Happy A.A. Founders Day Everyone!

In this episode, we talk about AA Founders Day. It’s hard to believe that a New York stockbroker and a doctor from Akron would change millions of peoples’ lives. But that they did. And then some. Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith not only changed the lives of millions, but they saved the lives of millions. Alcoholics and loved ones alike. And their Twelve Step recovery program continues to save millions to this day. It’s no wonder why tens of thousands are flocking to Akron, Ohio to celebrate A.A. Founders Day this weekend.

The book, Alcoholics Anonymous Comes of Age, states; “1935, June 10: Dr. Bob has his last drink. Alcoholics Anonymous founded.” The rest is history.

Today, I am celebrating Dr. Bob’s last drink and the millions of people who have recovered from addiction since that pivotal moment.

Have a wonderful Founders Day weekend everyone, aloha!

  • Gratitude is an Action Word!

In this episode, we talk about gratitude is an action word. We've all heard, 'we are as happy as we make up our minds to be'. But my experience is that happiness and gratitude, are the result of taking consistent right actions, beginning with the pillars of pray, meditation, and service to my fellow man the program teaches us. It provides the framework for daily action, then we chart our individual course.

Today is wide open. I will decide on a course of action and move ahead. There are people all around me who would appreciate a little help, if only I made myself available. There is also help available to me, if only I ask.

Here’s wishing you an action-packed day full of happiness and gratitude!

  • The Three Legacies

Today we’re going to talk about the Three Legacies of Alcoholics Anonymous, Recovery, Unity and Service, and how easy it is to integrate them into our lives in recovery.

The three legacies form such a strong foundation for not only living, but for maintaining the foundation of not just AA, but many other 12 step programs. like Al-Anon, Narcotics anonymous, cocaine anonymous, marijuana anonymous, co-dependents anonymous, debtors anonymous and many more. They all use slightly altered variations of the 12 steps, 12 traditions and 12 concepts for world service of Alcoholics Anonymous.

The three legacies are the keys to life for millions of alcoholics and addicts across the globe.

If you are an alcoholic or addict in recovery, I urge you, please, learn the three legacies. Act on them and Live them, then take every new member who will let you, through them. And keep them close to your heart and feet always.
