One of the most under utilised tools on social media is Pinterest. For some reason, although it is predominantly female a lot of people just don't think it's got potential for their business. I was one of them to be honest, until I tested it as a platform and went from 2000 views a month to 100k by simply creating more content consistently for the platform as well is following a few other rules, so let's chat about those now.

So, today is Winnie The Pooh Day, the day to celebrate the birthday of AA Milne. Now I'm sure we've all seen the Winnie & Pigglet images with quotes on them, not always Winnie quotes, but usually quite a lot of brevity in them, they're fun sometimes, but othertimes silly.....one thing they all have in common is they perform well, but why? It draws back to connecting with your audience again, and making sure they understand what the pain point is you're removing as a voice of authority / expert in your field.

As you may know, today is ditch your new years resolutions day. This is a chance for you to be finally honest with yourself and say, I've failed to stop smoking, or, I did have a drink the other day etc. etc. and let's be honest, in this weird climate right now, nobody could blame you. However, if one goal was to be sure to work hard on your social media content and you've not, maybe now is the time to put that work in, especially as we've all got more time on our hands. Today is Nothing Day, but, even though this is a day for you to sit down and reflect and do nothing, should you really be doing that as a brand or business? The thing so many of us forget is social media doesn't switch off at 5pm on a friday and switch back on Monday at 9am. It runs all the time, and new people are always consuming content at different times, especially those people who actually aren't able to consume content during the week, so, should you be posting on a weekend? You bet you should, maybe not as much as during the week, but you'd better put some effort in as if you don't those people who can only consume on a weekend will buy your product from someone else who does speak to them on a saturday or sunday.

It’s #hatday which allows me to ask the question, are you wearing every single hat in your business? Should you be wearing every single hat in your business was, or worse still, have you given someone a job they’re not suited too......like social media.

So many businesses hand out social media jobs to young team members assuming because they’re on social media they must know how to use it, but that’s not always the case.

Getting the right people to help in that situation is imperative, be it training or simply taking on the work so they can concentrate on what they’re good at.

Don’t make assumptions just because someone’s young they’re a social media expert.

Today is dress your pets day, a day when no doubt social media will inundated with cute animals dressed as assorted different things and everyone will be pressing like and share so their friends and family can see them......but, why do people interact with this type of content and not yours? Well, it all boils down to emotions, we all buy products and use social media emotionally and if you're not connecting with your content in that way, why would they interact with it

What are Social media stickers?

In simple terms, social stickers are a glorified emoji. A way of expressing a feeling, a thought, or just plain old fun. As you can see in the image below, we went from having emoticons which were made of up of different characters to now having emoji and stickers.

So why should you use them?

One way is building a positive brand sentiment, which could be based on an ad campaign or a product/service. This is particularly popular in Asian countries where stickers have been used to promote new films, announce album releases, advertise drinks and introduce new services.

So many people get caught up in perfection with their content, so today on sketchnote day I show you how imperfect content can be with my terrible sketchbook drawing of some content I've posted on my social media channels today.

it's none of your business what anyone else thinks of you.....this is my mantra when it comes to overcoming the doubt I always had about creating content for my audience. In fact, this stems all the way back to my days of working in radio when almost everyone around me professionally spent their time doubting and belittling me rather than supporting to the point I could succeed. As time went on I met amazing people and teams at places like Viking FM, York TV, Kick FM and Immedia Broadcasting who pushed me to be a better presenter, but how do you overcome that nobhead syndrome playing with your head?
