On this episode we talk education, specifically the education system. When did it begin? What changes have been made? What changes should be made? We also talk about teachers and what makes a good educator, and try to get to the bottom of just what education is exactly — that is, what it should be. Let us know how you feel @societalnxrm on Instagram. We’d also love to hear of any teachers that you remember, and how they had an impact on your life! Let us know!
Your hosts for this show are myself Adrian Peace (@adriiianpeace), Martey (@marteyofficial), and Dezmond Walker (@dez_walk).

On this episode we talk art, and, how to interpret art. Is there a right way to consume or interpret art? How do you deal with art snobs? How can we heighten our experiences when creating and consuming art? We’ll also each choose two works of art to discuss and breakdown in our own way to show how we interpret it, what it makes us feel, and how it relates to our lives. Here’s a list of the pieces/works discussed:

Support the show (http://cash.me/rebelliousociety)Welcome back to Societal Norm! We’re back from our hiatus with an intimate episode on fear. What is it? Why do we feel it? What do we do about it?
Fear — not unlike happiness, sadness, or anxiety — is a signal sent from the brain to the body, because sometimes the brain needs help interpreting the things around us. It’s as if the brain is sending a coded message to itself that it must then decode and hopefully respond to correctly. Fear’s purpose is to spur you into action. Fight, or flight, put into evolutionary terms. It is a survival mechanism, that frankly, could use an update.

Support the showIn this episode we talk about code switching, and all its implications; micro-aggressions, racism, and what it really means to be your “authentic” self. Code switching is defined as "the practice of alternating between two or more languages or varieties of language in conversation.” For instance, talking one way with your friends, but changing dialects when speaking to your boss. Does having a habit of “code switching” make you inauthentic, or a good rhetorician?

One can imagine that for as long as we’ve existed on Earth humans have been in disagreement over what is right and what is wrong — what is good, and what is evil. Most religions tend to agree for the most part as far as principles go, but most of them try to boil things down to being either black or white in life, omitting the shades of grey that might exist. It’s a complex matter, but is there some kind natural order to the world or philosophy that we can observe to get us all on the same page about how we can better define good and evil. That’s what this episode is all about, as well as the struggle with doing so thus far, some educated speculation on how the concepts of good and evil came to be so ingrained in our culture, and examination of the unwritten (in some cases) social contract that exists within a society to maintain civilization.

How should we define love? Is it a delusion, is it an emotion, or is it something more? In this episode we’ll seek to clear up a little bit of the confusion, to take a bit of the complexity out of the age-old question, “What is love?” We’ll also take a trip to the past and talk about why love exists. We get into marriage, the idea of romance, and attempt to understand love by gaining a little more context around it.
