One of the most profound realities of the Christian life is that you are in Christ. This phrase, "in Christ," appears over and over again in the New Testament. It means that when you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you were united with Him. You are spiritually positioned in Christ. And because you are in Christ, every spiritual blessing is available to you. Ephesians 1 verse 3 says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ."My dear friend, being in Christ changes everything about your identity, your position, and your inheritance. In Christ, you are forgiven. In Christ, you are righteous. In Christ, you are a new creation. In Christ, you are accepted. In Christ, you have access to God. In Christ, you have every spiritual blessing. Your identity is not based on who you are in yourself. It is based on who you are in Christ.Think about the phrase "in Christ" in the New Testament. In Christ, you have redemption and forgiveness of sins. In Christ, you are made alive. In Christ, you are seated in heavenly places. In Christ, you are created for good works. In Christ, you are brought near to God. In Christ, you are an heir of God. Being in Christ is the most significant reality of your existence.Think about the difference between being in Adam and being in Christ. Romans 5 tells us that in Adam, all die. But in Christ, all are made alive. In Adam, we are condemned. In Christ, we are justified. In Adam, we are separated from God. In Christ, we are reconciled. Your position has completely changed. You are no longer in Adam. You are in Christ.Think about what it means to be in Christ practically. It means that when God looks at you, He sees Christ. Your sins are covered by His blood. His righteousness is credited to your account. You stand before God not in your own merit but in the merit of Christ. This is not just a theological concept. It is the foundation of your confidence before God.So how do you live in the reality of being in Christ? First, understand your position. You are in Christ. You are not striving to get into Christ. You are already there. This is your position. Believe it. Receive it.Second, draw on your resources in Christ. Every spiritual blessing is available to you in Christ. When you need strength, it is in Christ. When you need wisdom, it is in Christ. When you need peace, it is in Christ. You do not have to beg for these things. They are already yours in Christ. Access them by faith.Third, live from your identity, not for your identity. You do not need to earn your identity in Christ. You already have it. Live from the reality of who you are in Christ. You are loved. You are accepted. You are secure. You are righteous. Let your behavior flow from your identity, not the other way around.Fourth, renew your mind to what is true about you in Christ. Your old identity is gone. You are a new creation. But you need to renew your mind to this truth. Meditate on who you are in Christ. Declare it. Believe it.Fifth, give thanks for every blessing you have in Christ. Gratitude opens your heart to receive more of what God has for you. What this produces in your life is confidence, security, and freedom. When you know who you are in Christ, you do not have to strive for acceptance. You are already accepted. You do not have to work for love. You are already loved. You do not have to earn your place. You already have a place. Being in Christ is the greatest privilege in the universe.Let us pray. Father, I thank You that I am in Christ. I am forgiven. I am righteous. I am accepted. I am a new creation. I have every spiritual blessing in Christ. Help me to live in the reality of who I am in Christ. Help me to draw on the resources that are mine in Christ. I do not have to strive for what I already have. I receive it by faith. I am in Christ. That is my identity. That is my security. That is my position. Thank You for the blessing of being in Christ. In Jesus mighty name, amen.
