Week 4 - Amos 7:1-8:14

What is something you take for granted? It's unfortunate that the things we take for granted we don't realize we take them for granted until they're gone. God's Word is the most life giving thing we have, the most life giving thing the Israelites had and yet they neglected and rejected it. When we continue to reject the Word of the Lord eventually the Word of the Lord goes silent!

Week 3 - Amos 3:1-6:14

When God gets a hold of your life things change dramatically and there should be consistency between Sunday and every other day. We can't show up on a Sunday and "worship" Him and then on Monday go into work and cheat our way through life. God's people look dramatically different because of the finished work of Jesus, and it is because of that finished work that justice continues to roll like a never ending river.

In Amos we have a clear warning from God, one that establishes God's rule and authority over every nation, one that establishes the guilt of those who reject God, and an opportunity to repent and turn to Him.

An intro to the book of Amos and a complete read through of the book. God, like a lion leaving his den in search of his prey, roars from Zion, making it known to the nations that He is coming in judgement.

Happy Father's Day, to the dads out there and those men who seek to follow Jesus in every area of life, who set an example for us to follow, who lead us well, and care for us, we salute you! Following Jesus can be a difficult task and many people have given their opinion on what a follower of Jesus, what a man should be; strong, courageous, dignified, faithful. All great qualities but one we need, one that doesn't often get mentioned, compassionate. We need men to lead us and set the example of what it looks like to be compassionate. The world is hurting and lost in the dark, people are hurting and lost in the dark, and when they finally come into the light what they need most is compassion.
