On Thursday, June 23, the people of the United Kingdom voted to leave the EU. Over 30 million people voted. The "Leave" vote won with 51.9 percent of the vote, and the "Remain" vote took 48.1 percent. The Brexit vote has put the UK in what some describe as its greatest crisis since the 1940s. It has shaken the global markets, with markets losing over $3 trillion. Conservative UK Prime Minister David Cameron of the Tory Party, who called for the vote in the first place, is resigning, which means a new election will occur as soon as this fall.

Meanwhile, on the opposition side of government, now led by left leaning Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, his opponents within his own party are using the occasion of the Brexit vote to step up their attacks against him. They took an overwhelming no confidence vote against Corbyn. All of this is now expected to lead to a new election for leader of the Labour Party as well.

Our guests are London based author, women's rights and anti-racist campaigner Selma James; Sara Calloway, who worked on a statement on why people of color support Jeremy Corbyn; and Sam Weinstein, a union leader who has worked in the US and the UK. Weinstein is also a volunteer with Momentum, a movement outside of the Labour Party but in support of Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the day Stokely Carmichael put forward the important message of “Black Power”. We speak with Professor Penial Joseph, author of “Stokely: A Life," a biography on Carmichael.

Also, crisis is brewing in Venezuela. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry supports a referendum effort, which could recall Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Meanwhile, the world remembers Honduran human rights activist Berta Caceres. Laura Carlsen brings us the latest news on Latin America.

And, a major conference will be held this weekend in Chicago, entitled “The People’s Summit: Building the Political Revolution." We speak with Desiree Kane, National Engagement Director for People for Bernie.

Today, we further investigate the tragedy in Orlando. A California minister says the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting deserved to die. And although blood is needed for the shooting victims, bisexual and gay men are being turned away from giving blood. We discuss the tragedy, its aftermath and its implications with Jackie Goldberg, who was the first openly gay member of Los Angeles City Council.

Also, hundreds of thousands of protesters have hit the streets of France this spring, protesting proposed changes to French labor protections. This is on top of France's already tumultuous year; the country continues to be in a state of emergency following last November’s terrorist attacks in Paris. In yesterday's protests, 50 people were injured, including 29 police officers, and three people were arrested. What’s going on? Our guests are Diana Johnstone, a Paris-based journalist, and Nicolas Galepides, a trade union activist.

Plus, today is a crucial day in Haiti; it's the deadline to extend the time Haiti’s interim president can serve. The United States and European Union are still pressing for Haiti’s fraudulent elections to be accepted. We speak with Yvon Kernizan, an activist in the Lavalas movement in Haiti. Lavalas is the largest movement of Haiti’s impoverished and is headed by Haiti’s former President Jean Bertrand Aristide, who was deposed in a US-backed coup in 2004.

Fourty nine people were killed and 53 injured in a mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando Florida. It was Latin night at the club, and the victims are primarily Latino/a and Black. The gunman previously told a co-worker that he wanted to kill all Black people, using the N-word. He was on an FBI terrorist watch list but nevertheless was able to purchase guns, including an assault weapon. Our guests are Junaid Ahmad, Director of the Center for Global Dialogue in Lahore, Pakistan; Andrew Patrick of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence; and Darnell Moore, Senior Editor and Correspondent at Mic and member of Black Lives Matter.

On our weekly roundtable: the Democratic Party embraces Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders promises to work with her. And, with key battles on the party platform on the horizon, how much influence will Sanders have?

Neocon moves are on the uptick in the Middle East, on Russian borders and in Haiti. What can we expect from a potential President Hillary Clinton on the foreign policy front?

The mainstream media is reporting that as of the morning of June 8, with 94 percent of precincts reporting, Hillary Clinton won California by 13 points. But there are reports of massive problems at the California polls. Sharing her voting experience, voter Kiyana Turner, a Pacifica Radio engineer, joins us in studio. We also turn to YahNe Ndgo, Jackie Goldberg and Alan Minsky for response and analysis.
