  • Three Steps for Holding a Safe Space - Minisode| Ep 7

    Send a text

In this minisode I share an experience I had with one of my daughters that helped me think more deeply about how we can show up for others in a way that invites them to share.

I have a wall hanging that says: Listen in such a way that others love to speak to you. This three step process is just the thing to help us all be better at doing this.

Also, tune in to the end for a little announcement.

  • How to Heal from Abuse and Live Joyfully with deJoly LaBrier | Ep 6

    Send a text

deJoly LaBrier is a life coach, author, speaker and artist who uses her life experiences to gently guide women to the joyful lives they deserve. Her company, deJoly’s Healing Arts, embraces authentic connection and healing wounds that may be hidden in plain sight. She has overcome severe childhood trauma, and believes healing can happen within a loving environment of supportive people, and a strong desire to work through blocks in our belief systems. Her latest book, Greeting the Day:Wisdom From My Gardens, is entirely different from her other three books on recovery from abuse. In this book she shares wisdom that comes from meditation and noticing the changes in her gardens.

During our conversation, we learn how deJoly was able to find healing and move into a space of joyful living. deJoly is a big believer that we need to be able to lean into others, and to feel our feelings in order to heal. I can tell you that whatever she has done, has absolutely worked for her. Her face radiates light, and she has become the kind of person who leaves other people better than she finds them.

  • On Holding Space for Grief and Self-Doubt - Minisode | Ep 5

    Send a text

In this minisode I share an experience I had in putting into practice one of the ideas I learned from Heidi Low in episode 4 about how to respond when someone we know loses a loved one. I also share a little bit about how I didn't feel the way I expected to after launching this podcast and what I did to combat the wave of imposter syndrome.

  • How to Show Up for Bereaved Parents with Heidi Low | Ep 4

    Send a text

Almost 20 years ago Heidi Low held her 5 year-old daughter, Alison, in her arms while she breathed her last breath.

She spent the next eight years reading and researching like crazy–trying everything from therapy to energy healing and so many more things in between. Most weren’t directly related to grief, but focused on personal growth and using her deep pain as a catalyst for something good or even lots of good somethings.

One summer afternoon sitting on her back patio, Heidi had a vision for taking all she’d learned and what had worked for her and offering it to other parents who felt like she did.

That vision was the beginning of ‘Ohana Oasis, a non-profit which has now served parents from across the nation with weeklong retreats using a curriculum Heidi created based on all the tools that worked for her. Ten years and 15+ retreats later, alumni who’ve attended leadership retreats are now leading the retreats for new bereaved parents.

Heidi has seen how taking time away from everyday life–being immersed in a well thought out environment–transforms lives. Now Heidi is taking all she’s learned about creating meaningful and life-changing retreats and sharing that with others who have a heart centered practice they want to offer in an intimate retreat setting.

I learned so much from Heidi during this episode about what the experience of losing a child is like, and most importantly, how I can better serve and love my friends and family who are grieving their own children. Whether you are a bereaved parent or you might be in a position to know one, this episode is for you.
