We check in on Larry’s dog and Jake reorganizes his desk.

We talk about last week’s homework. Jake enneagram is a Type 2. We have a chat about how relevant enneagrams are. We listened to some of Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman and we mostly enjoyed the experience.

We then start talking about music especially a few music videos. Larry has a philosophical quandry about Chipotle. Last weeks homework is discussed. Jake made donuts. • 18 - Executing a Grift
This week Season 3 begins, because we have no rhyme or reason for starting or ending a season! This season, Jane Schaffer gets confused for other Janes. We talk about putting life back together after the holidays. We discuss the loss of innocence inherent in setting foot inside The Container Store. Larry talks about unemployment and how he’s getting a puppy. Larry goes on a rant about people and their opinions. Jake has the most millennial of problems. The mysterious popularity of the term “grift” is discussed, leading Larry to wonder about golf carts in the south.
Jake really wants to talk about Scholars Bowl, which has a surprising cheating scandal. Larry has a suggestion that Jake dismisses out of hand.
Homework starts afresh this season. Jake wants Larry to listen to “Fair Youth” by space-phobic band maybeshewill. Larry wants Jake to come back with a new recipe.

  • 17 - Singular Twerking
Larry and Jake start America's Number 1 Teaching Podcast with a discussion of stress and chaperoning school dances. The kids are doing some weird stuff these days.
We transition extremely gracefully to a discussion of facial hair and then into what our family would like for Christmas. Great radio is made.
Larry asks Jake if he has any big dreams or plans for the next few years. From there we talk about cruises and the relative merits of vacations. People's hipster attitudes about everything are talked about.
We talk about last weeks homework and then Jake wants Larry to play a PC game with him (sigh) and Larry wants Jake to entertain a few episodes of "The Good Place" since he watches a lot of similar shows.

  • 16 - That B Left Me Unread
This week we start by talking about Red Dead Redemption 2. It snowed by Jake so we briefly touch on that. Larry quit his job. Jake says Larry can “Cardi B it.”
We then talk about what it must be like for kids these days to live in a world of constant distraction and a need for a constant stream of dopamine via electronic means.
From there America’s Number 1 Teaching Podcast delves into some teacher talk. Jake has a new grading scale and he saw some really bad improv.
Then we revisit our argument from the last show about the iPhone vs Android divide. Nothing is accomplished. Larry is kind of a dick about it. Jake gets wound up.
Homework is assigned. Jake has to get a budget and Larry has to edit and print a picture.

  • 15 - Sanguini Alfredo
Jake is super busy and doesn’t have time to play CODBO3. Larry thinks “battle royal” is a stupid reinvention of the term “death match” and has decided to be snotty about it. Whatever. Jake had parent teacher conferences. A boring discussion of switching phone providers sparks Larry to ask some questions about why Jake hasn’t switched to the iPhone. Larry asks these questions in that way that’s apparently prejudicial because Jake has the same response that Larry’s wife does every time he asks why one might do it a certain way. Whatever.
At about 9 minutes in Larry edited out a really BORING conversation about politics that led into a discussion of the word sanguine. Super exciting stuff this week.
Larry tries to get Jake to explain his advice to high school students in an effort to better figure out his own life. But kids in high school are dumb.
Jake then explains the app Tik ToK to Larry and Larry just doesn’t get it. Because he’s an old.
Larry didn’t read “Watchmen.” But Jake did tell Larry about a bunch of youtubes to maybe check out. So here’s a list of the channels discussed:
    Chase Reeves (Bag Reviews): https://www.youtube.com/user/chasereeves

  • 14 - Is This My Shaggy Moment?
Larry really likes the new Selena Gomez song and thinks its part of a vast globalist conspiracy. Jake had a day and talks a lot about cutting shower boards and buying a jigsaw that he won’t use. Jake then has some deep, haunting, issues about volleyball. Jake says that ice cream is a “me and my wife thing.”
Larry has strong feelings about Chuy’s ranch.
The homework is discussed. Jake listened to Iron and Wine again. Larry listened to an old Relient K album. Music is discussed.
Bojack Horseman is brought up. Then Larry talks about how the plight of the millenial is to always be re-watching “The Office.”
Jake wants Larry to read the graphic novel, “Watchmen.” Larry wants Jake to find something interesting on Youtube and bring it back next week.
We got listener mail this week.

  • 13 - Workin' The Land
This week we start off talking about how Jake is "a nap guy" on the weekends. Then Larry tells us about how he went to a video store. It's mostly not as interesting as he thought it might be, but the employee did mumble about the adult stuff in the back. The movie "Annihilation" is discussed, "The Post" is mentioned and Jake recommends the new Mr. Rogers doc. This leads to a brief discussion about how cynical we've all become that we don't believe that good people even exist anymore.
Jake talks about scholars bowl. He's actually read part of a book. Then, as he describes his in-laws land, Larry implores and demands that Jake go hunting with his father-in-law, or at least shoot a bow. It's just a bow.
Last week's homework for Jake was to find something weird on Netflix. Jake found a game show called "The Chase" which involves a character called the Big British Beast. Jake wanted Larry to watch a video game advertisement and Larry has nothing to say about it except that it's a game. It's probably ok.
Next week Jake wants Larry to pick an album he's forgotten about from his youth.
Larry wants Jake to try a new food.

  • 12 - Her Email Was sexymama69
We start by discussing some teaching things now that school's back in session (and we are the nations #1 teaching podcast). Larry gets on a rant about "business-y speak." He's old. Then Larry asks Jake what the newest thought technology on learning is. We then veer into a probably ill-advised discussion on mental illness. Don't @ me.
Jake went and saw some youtuber live in concert: https://www.youtube.com/user/comedianeddieb
We discuss last weeks homework assignment. Jake didn't read a book but Larry read Destiny Disrupted by Tamim Ansary. It's great.
Then we have a light-on-the-spoilers discussion of "A Quiet Place." Though there are probably spoilers. So watch it first!
Next week: Watch the 45 minute (!!!)
gameplay footage (!!!) advertisement (!!!) for Steamfunk 1977. Or maybe that way Cyberpunk 2077. Either way, that's way too long to watch somebody else play a video game.
Also find something weird on Netflix.
