❤️❤️February is Heart Health Month❤️❤️
We had some heart pumping action this week watching our niece’s basketball game. She was in a tournament and they ended up winning, but it did elevate the blood pressure!
Fashion - We got the sweetest gift from our Dad on Valentine’s Day. Opal heart @gorjana necklaces! They are dainty and perfect for layering with other necklaces. And since it’s heart health month, and we should be getting our heart rate up, we want to remind you of the @Altra running shoes. They have a wide foot base which allows your foot to lay flat as it naturally would without shoes on.
Food -
🌽Did you know vegetable oils are not good for your heart? They actually increase heart disease and inflammation. So check your labels for sunflower oil, palm oil, canola oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil and switch to coconut oil, avocado oil, Grassfed butter or ghee.
☕️Coffee can actually be good for your heart! Your daily cup of joe could be doing more for you and your heart than just giving you a boost of energy, just make sure it’s organic, free of mold and mycotoxins, pesticides and other toxins. A few coffees that check all the boxes are @puritycoffee @lifeforce @kion
🍎 Apples keep your heart healthy because they're high in a soluble fiber called pectin. Pectin is known for blocking cholesterol absorption in your gut, and it also encourages your body to use cholesterol rather than store it. An Apple a day really does keep the doctor away!
Fitness - We can’t talk about heart health without mentioning exercise. What can you do to get your heart rate up? Go for a brisk walk, a jog, circuit train, whatever gets your huffing and puffing. A fluctuation between the timing of heartbeats is called heart rate variability, or HRV. Measuring HRV can provide information about your overall health. Most smart watches can measure HRV.
Faith - Did you know most heart attacks happen on Mondays? It’s believed to be because people dread going to work. How sad?! Let this give you pause and reflect if you have a cause of the dreaded Mondays. Do you need to make a change in your line of work or can you find ways to enjoy what you do? Maybe you need to start taking steps to live a more fulfilling life.
Fun Finds- Two things to help with your heart health is reflexology and jump roping. So many diseases nowadays are stress related. Our society is obsessed with going 100mph and living in a stressed state. We love reflexology as a way to completely relax and de-stress. You can also read a good book, going on a walk, or take a bath.
Find ways to alleviate stress! If you need an easy way to get your heart rate up then look into getting a jump rope! It’s simple yet effective. Start with 50 jumps a day. We like @rpm and @elitesrs ropes.
