"Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu" is perhaps the best known of the Guru Shlokas. Guru Shlokas are verses to worship the Guru, from the Guru Gita, the great work, Gita, a chant to worship the Guru.
The guru is the creator (of our spiritual aspirations), the protector (of our protector (of our aspirations) and the destroyer (of our bad qualities).
