Two sisters review spicy romance books. One reads them. The other...is excited to be included. We stalk the plot in the second book of Jan Steven's duet, "Fallen Prey." It is a dark, stalker romance with a twist that we would have known if we had only read the title page and tags.

This episode is not a review, but we do discuss the show's format, why Rachel refuses to read tags, a few books she has DNF but still has, and updates to theming! We hope you enjoy this different kind of episode and of exciting things to come.
No episode this week due to travel! Next week we will be doing some "kitchen cleaning" then we'll return to our usual cooking and sweating in the kitchen. Have a great weekend bookies!
Two sisters review spicy romance books. One reads them. The other...is excited to be included. We have summoned the first book in Sarah Spade's Sombra Demon series, "Mated to the Monster," just like Shannon summoned a huge, hot demon named Mal. Who hasn't accidentally summoned a demon from another plane when you think you're casting a love spell, only to find out they're your fated mate and have been waiting a thousand years to meet you?

Two sisters review spicy romance books. One reads them. The other...is excited to be included. We go through the rest of Imogen Keeper's After the Plague series and we are beginning to feel hope again! For once, though, Rachel had not finished the final book (Haven) when we recorded, so we leave it up to you to read the ending. Does our recipe holds true? Should we keep doing long series? Should Frankie have biblically accurate angel eyes?

Two sisters review spicy romance books. One reads them. The other...is excited to be included. We go through the first book, "Broken" in Imogen Keeper's After the Plague series and it hurts so bad we had to split this series into two episodes. The first book--a novella--starts in the midst of a plague that wipes out 99% of humanity. This one is heavy with grief, death, hopelessness, and finding purpose anyway. We initially reviewed the whole series in one go, but realized it needed longer in the oven, so we have split the review! Please enjoy this first course, and come back next Saturday when we present the rest of the series and give our recipe~!

Two sisters review spicy romance books. One reads them. The other...is excited to be included. We beg for forgiveness as we review "Crossed" a Never After novel by Emily McIntire. Loosely based on Hunchback of Notre Dame, our villainous lead, Father Cade has set his righteous, murderous eyes on Amarya who makes his heart burn with hell fire. This one is incredibly dark--please check the trigger warnings--but it had us singing dramatically at our fireplaces from page one.
TW: Discussions of sex, stalking, SA, rape, bullying of a child on the spectrum, murder, gore, violence and so much religious trauma

Greer Rivers' Tattered Curtain book, "Phantom," takes center stage for this episode. It is a Phantom of the Opera retelling, set in the French Quarter of New Orleans. This dark romance really wooed us, who grew up as theater kids, and maybe it will do the same for you. Just keep your hand at the level of your eye and you'll get through this dark romance!
