Sorry We Missed You is a 2019 British drama film directed by Ken Loach, written by Paul Laverty and produced by Rebecca O'Brien.
Principal photography began in September 2018 in the Newcastle area in north-east England. It was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Despite having a broken arm in a sling, Loach appeared to promote the film at Cannes, where he said that it would be his final film to compete at the festival. It received the audience award for best European film at the 2019 San Sebastián International Film Festival
The film is scheduled to be released in the United Kingdom on November 1, 2019, and in the United States on March 6, 2020.
Ricky (Kris Hitchen) and his family have been fighting an uphill struggle against debt since the 2008 financial crash. An opportunity to wrestle back some independence appears with a shiny new van and the chance to run a franchise as a self employed delivery driver. It's hard work, and his wife's job as a carer is no easier. The family unit is strong but when both are pulled in different directions everything comes to breaking point.
