Answering the call to move to Alaska, they are now in the process of starting up two new businesses. In this episode, my guest Kristi Odom—a wife, mother, assistant teacher, and snake bite survivor—shares her experiences of enduring consecutive setbacks in life. She talks about thinking she was pregnant, with some suspecting twins due to her rapid growth, only to discover at four months that she had a molar pregnancy, which is very rare, especially in the US. Shortly after, she was bitten by a copperhead snake, received inadequate treatment, and felt as though she might not survive. Despite these challenges, Kristi maintains a positive outlook and believes she is here only by the grace of God.

Why does it always feel so good to get out in nature? Is there proof that it’s beneficial? Yes, numerous studies have proven that getting out in nature is beneficial for you. This practice is known as forest therapy or forest bathing.

Forest therapy, also known as sylvotherapy (from the Latin "sylva," meaning "forest"), is a traditional, non-medicinal approach to healing through interaction with the forest. This practice, referred to as "shinrin-yoku" in Japanese, meaning "forest bathing," has seen a notable surge in popularity in recent years. While activities like hugging trees or hiking in the forest are part of it, the experience extends beyond these activities.

Today, numerous scientific studies support its positive effects on cardiovascular, immune, and mental health. Forest therapy engages the senses and cognitive abilities, helping participants sleep better, feel fitter, and listen to their intuition. Connecting to the plant world & nature altogether is where it’s at!

In this solo episode, I recap my milestone birthday and the overwhelming love I felt around me. This hasn’t always been the case, but I’ve learned to see all of them as a gift no matter what they looked like. I started using the phrase “I get to” before everything I say, and it’s been a game changer. For example, “I get to” exercise instead of “I have to,” and “I get to” turn 50!

I also ask for a birthday gift, something I normally wouldn’t do, but this was a special one (I guess they all are really). Then, I share stories of different things I’ve manifested over the years and offer some tips on how you can manifest, too. I’m so thankful for this life and where I am now. Oh & thank you for listening. I can’t believe this is episode 40!

I believe it's a system that, when used correctly, will never steer us wrong. We often get tripped up when we ask others for their opinions on matters in our lives. This is when things become murky, making it difficult to make a decision. Learning to trust your gut above all else is key. Take the time to reflect on past experiences where you've made decisions based on gut feelings and notice how often they led to the right choices.
