  • 20. Preparing for winter

In this episode I discuss different ways I am preparing for upcoming winter, including tucking in lots of spring-blooming bulbs, reviving my sourdough starter and baking bread, and tricking my amaryllis to bloom inside all winter long.

I share how this optimism and the activities that light up my life now would have probably been so foreign to me in 2019. I hope this episode encourages you to embrace whatever season of life you are in, to nourish yourself in whatever ways feel good at to spot the beauty in every season.

  • 19. Naturopathic Doctor chat with Kirsten Kessler ND, CNS

In this episode we sit down and chat with my friend, collaborator and naturopathic doctor, Kirsten Kessler. Kirsten is amazing and so brilliantly smart. I love knowing her and working with her professionally.

She has helped me optimize my health in a few ways, totally naturally, without stressing me out or sending me running for the hills. We discuss a little bit about this in the episode, as well as what is naturopathic medicine, how Kirsten practices and why we believe having agency in our own health choices is so critical to making lasting and sustainable changes.

Kisten and I met in our Truce Coaching Certification process and spent nearly a year together in practice coaching, learning these methods and deepening our skills together, we became fast friends.

I joke about this in the episode but Kirsten is a WIZARD at so many things, but particularly assessing bloodwork and she loves it too. I cannot recommend taking a more holistic route to your health care enough whether it is preventative, maintenance, etc. and obviously Kirsten is my top choice for someone to guide you in that way!

I hope you enjoy this episode learning more about alternative ways to manage your health and empower yourself to make decisions and lasting changes in your life from an aligned place.

    More about Kirsten:

Kirsten Kessler is a Naturopathic Doctor and Certified Nutrition Specialist with a background in sociology and psychology. She aims to help everyone feel their best to live their most vital lives. She believes in the powerful connection between mental and physical health and enjoys working with individuals of all ages to address hormone imbalances, digestion, and support their mental well-being. Her practice provides personalized protocols to meet the unique needs of each individual and rejects outdated, standardized metrics of health— we are all more than just a few numbers. You can reach her through her website vitalsignsnaturalhealth.com

  • 17. Come sit by my garden

This episode is fully inspired by the poem Come sit by my garden by Emory Hall, featured in her book of poems Made of Rivers. I discuss how this poem moved me deeply, and musings about my own garden, my hard shell exterior, and a time when my inner landscape and outer landscape were misaligned. I hope you enjoy this garden episode, recorded from my favorite seat, in the center of it all.

In this episode I sat down with my dear friend and collaborator, Katie Hargreaves. We discuss our personal human designs including Katie’s analysis on our shadows, and how this may show up in our lives. Tune in for much much more of this episode and enjoy a virtual conversation that felt more like one we’d have in my garden.

This episode we dive into the Inner Audit which is a 60 minute 1:1 session with Nicole.

Taking stock of where you are now with the vision of where you want to be in mind. Think of this as preparing your soil before planting a blooming garden. First, we must look within and understand the patterns, programming and totally viable reasons you are the way you are. We’ll start to identify the stories you tell and design new experiences.

    This is for you if:

    * You are looking to build more self trust and confidence

    * You want to understand the story you have been living your life by, and ready to change it

    * You are struggling to balance your personal/professional life, feeling burnt out and know you need to make changes

    * You want to create ease and flow in your life but not sure where to start

    * You don’t want more positive affirmations and spiritual bypassing

    * You are interested in learning the root cause, who your inner protectors are and how to work with them, not against them

    * You are tired of more information and need a new experience that will actually help you make sustainable changes in your life or business

  • 13. Success means nothing if...

The mantra keeps playing in my mind. Success means nothing if you are miserable. There was a time in my life where I could easily write off misery for the fake glimmer of success. It took me a few years and a major career milestone to realize I couldn’t keep pouring all of my discontent into my career like a recycling factory and refurbish trash into something that would make me happy. The raises, the promotions, they all started to mean nothing when I realized my identity was NOT my career.

I felt lost, time wasn’t mine, I didn’t feel satisfaction in what I was doing in my day-to-day any more, and it was met with a slew of other overcommitments, lack of self-care, and a numb, barely there presence in my life. My creativity took a back seat to everything else, yet I still masked and acted like everything on the inside was great.

From the outside, you wouldn’t be able to tell everything on the inside was shaky. My relationship with my husband was great, we have the cutest dogs ever, my house looked well-kept, I even dressed nice and felt put together. Inside my inner landscape was dismal, bleak and I had little hope things could change, but I kept on keeping on. How could I be so unhappy when my life was what people dream of?

It doesn’t matter if your life is someone else’s dream life if you are miserable in one or more aspects. For me, it was my career and my lack of boundaries with my time and energy that did me in. The lack of boundaries really crept in and never let me truly know when enough was enough. I was always striving for more, especially at work, and I had to be the best. I outperformed myself each year because that was who I was. I was known for this. How could I let them down?

I realized I was repeating many of the things that likely led to my mom’s early death. It hurt, it stung, I felt stupid. How could I be so blind to this? I felt all aspects of grief for this version of myself. She still exists, I have liberated many parts of her, but it’s a deep unraveling. I continue to do the inner work to not fall victim to this trap that I learned to set so easily.

What is it for you that comes after this statement? Success means nothing if ____. I encourage you to fill in the blank. Sit with the other questions at the end of the episode and really be real with yourself.

The time to examine this is now. There is no time for “one day when”.

At the start of this episode I also debut a new way to work with me. You can select an Inner or Outer Audit to take stock of where you are now and where you want to go. You can read more about them here. All of my work is a holistic combination of inner and outer work, but in these sessions you get to choose your focus to make the most of our time together.

  • 12. Working backwards

People always ask me “How do you do it all?” and most days I feel that imposter syndrome creep in, like I am not doing nearly enough.

***But then I remember I am not meant to do it all, but I am being, and I happen to also get a lot done at the same time.***

So … how can I leverage this efficiency for my benefit, maybe it really is who I am, a gift really?

Let me teach you my ways of how I get $hit done, activate others to do the same, all while working backwards and efficiently. I will help you slay perfectionism, and cut the crap on your list to really only work on what matters, what is most aligned and actually *needs* to get done.

If this interests you join me for a free workshop where I explain how this works, you’ll apply it to your own tasks, then we will have a 45 minute deep work session (focused working cameras on, mics off). I’ll stick around after for any questions you have! I’d love to see you there live, because in this situation, you kind of have to be present to experience the full thing.

    Free workshop August 6, 2023 8am PST/ 11am EST/ 5pm CEST

P.S. In this episode I describe working backwards in theory and give a few examples. I also share how I am so much better at getting things done when I have company, even if they aren’t doing anything other than lending me energy, thank you my sacral beings <3.

  • 11. Help - someone is trying to steal my sparkle!

In this episode I answer a listener question about what to do when it feels like someone is trying to steal your sparkle. I offer three approaches that can be leveraged together. These approaches are not exactly what you would expect, and require a hard look back in the mirror at yourself. It is true that sometimes people are acting in a way that isn't for your highest and best, but often we have a lot more control about how we show up, what energy we give, and how to navigate these situations when they occur.
