We’re in a very practical portion of the epistle, and Romans twelve can accurately be described as epic! Verses one through thirteen beautifully describe how we’re to live and love in these last days. Even a casual observer can see love is absent in all too many lives. Can you think of any time in your life when we have been more divided and Christians have been more disrespected?

Today we’re going to see the Lord perform a miracle through the Apostle Peter. Did you know that the Lord has works for you to do as well? But we need to be prepared in order to do them and there is no better way to be prepared than to study the Word of God.

Whether it’s at a birthday party, a Christmas get-together or maybe a school graduation, we’re accustomed to giving and receiving gifts. And as we know, many of them are never used or are just put away in storage somewhere. Now God gives each of His children spiritual gifts… but sadly many Christians never put them to use. Imagine how that makes the Lord feel? Pastor Jeff Johnson returns to his study of Romans here on Sound Doctrine and we’ll be focusing once again on chapter twelve... one of a few spots in Scripture that list the spiritual gifts.

Whether we’re helping someone get their groceries every now and then, caring for babies in the nursery, or helping teach a Sunday School class, God can use us in powerful ways. We all have gifts the Lord has given us to serve His Kingdom. The question is are you putting the gifts He’s given you to use? God wants to use us and our gifts! It’s not only a high privilege but very fulfilling.

We return to Romans chapter twelve, verses one and two today. The early part of this chapter speaks of consecration. Put another way, our attitude towards God. We’ll learn that as we give ourselves over to God, He begins to unveil His will to us. Every Christian should have a burning desire to know God’s will for their life. Does that describe you?
