Sound Doctrine

In this life we experience painful trials… growing pains if you will. They’re intended to help us grow into the person God wants us to be.

When you think of God, what pictures come to mind? The world tries to portray God as some vindictive dictator obsessed with enforcing a set of rules. Do you think of Him as a strict rule giver, and someone who’s out to get you? Pastor Jeff will encourage us to think of God as our Abba Daddy, who loves us, and wants to lead and guide us!

A life given to God’s Holy Spirit is a life of fruitfulness and joy. Why would we want to suppress Him? Perhaps you’ve been quenching the Spirit, or hindering His work in your life. Well that can change today, and pastor Jeff Johnson will utilize our time together to encourage us toward a life in the Spirit.

We’re talking about the Spirit life today. In other words, how to experience fullness of life, as we’re filled with the Spirit of God. If that’s something you desire, well you’ve come to the right place. There are opportunities everywhere to be filled with whatever the world offers.

We’re camping out in Romans chapter eight today and all week long. Each and every day we have a choice to make as followers of Christ. And that is will we walk in the flesh or in the Spirit. One leads to corruption and defeat, and the other to victory and blessings. Seems like a no brainer, and yet we so often choose the wrong path.

When we become a Christian we’re no longer condemned. But that doesn’t mean we won’t feel condemned at times. Sometimes others will condemn us, sometimes we bring it on ourselves, and you can be sure satan is behind it all. So how do we get beyond that to embrace God’s truth for our lives?

Today on Sound Doctrine we discover that if you’re in Christ, you’re no longer condemned, but free! And God has supplied all the power we need to live the Christian life, through His Spirit. We begin a mini-series today in one of the greatest chapters in the bible, Romans chapter eight.

Today we make our way over to Acts chapter eight and receive a classic example of what’s been called a divine appointment. Philip is directed by the Lord to a man who was serious about searching for God and just happened to be reading the Scripture but needed someone to help him understand it. What a set up!

Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson speaks of a war within. The struggle we all have with sin is real. But there is a way to win, and Romans chapter seven lays that out for us. Too many people today, including a lot of Christians, try to handle the conflict on their own. That’s called pride!
