📸On Episode 20 of Sounds LIke NYC, I got to sit down with Mixed Media Painter Jennifer Sanchez! 🎨

Using primarily Spray Paint, Acrylic, and Oils Paints on Canvas and, more recently, murals, Jennifer combines traditional painting styles with a very urban/graffiti art look.

Living in NYC all her life and being born into a very low-income Puerto Rican family, Jennifer had always told everyone she wanted to become a famous artist and use her art to help the community and the poor.

Becuase she wants to live up to her dreams Jennifer is always looking for opportunities to combine art with her passion for community service.

Jennifer is currently selling prints of her most current painting to raise funds for an event gathering food and toiletries for the homeless in NYC.

During his diagnosis, he was recommended 2 years of bed rest. Instead, Xandre put music on hold and tackled the radio industry. “WEEE Live Radio” his online radio show gained 10,000 international listeners within 9 months of launch, and even had guest celebrities such as J. Holiday, Lumidee and others! With a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado, Jon has had a huge array of performances playing shows from Two Saints to Silvana, to Velvet Bar all the way to the Velvet Note in Georgia!Jon was recognized as an outstanding musician at the 2010 UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival and was nominated as a Rising Star at 2010 Inside/Out Jazz awards presented by Lucid Jazz Lounge and J&J Music. As an educator, Jon has been a faculty member at Day Jams Rock Camps, as well as an instructor for Musical Minds Keyboard Club. Electronic/ R&B artist James Scott is a Bronx, NY native with Honduran roots began his music career as a background singer/songwriter for a local studio producer Yala, in the Bronx. As James progressed rapidly, he dropped out of college & branched off to start working on his solo project. Balancing life, figuring out the world, lost in love & searching for his own sound & self, James put together his forthcoming project “BOYs HURT too". Working alongside: b*star, Dom Stone, ViKO, APSP, Rhome, Sammy Affer, John Hunter, Justin McElderry, James brings his emotions to the forefront and show his vulnerability & that its okay to show how you feel, it isn’t weakness, we’re all human and we hurt and need to be comfortable with ourselves. On Episode #013 of Sounds Like NYC, we got to sit down with electropop/indie-pop musician Elliot Lee. Dropping out of pre-medical school and moving to NYC, Elliot instead decided to "give a voice to the voiceless" and make music.

"I fell one of the keys to writing is, what I do is just I write a flow of consciousness on the paper, writing down everything that comes to mind around the topic and if a rhyme pops into my head I'll write that down. At first, I did definitely focus too much on writing, and after a while, you learn to not focus so much on it."
