This show was originally heard the day after our Part 1 story heard on our LOS Vol. 261 today's Shep was heard December 18, 1974. From Volume 71 of the Vast Library of Sound comes a really nice Christmas story as told to you by none other than Boris Karloff!

But this is NOT the Grinch story, no sir, today Boris is going to tell us all about The Year Without A Santa Claus!  Not many people are even aware that Boris also told this Christmas story too.  And told like no one else can, listen to this wonderful story teller and gather the kids for this one, it’s for all the family.  

That, by the way is Boris Karloff himself in today's picture for this show as he's dressed as Santa making a Yuletide Call.

We've been listening to Great Gildersleeve's this year from 1951, following each week till lo and behold this month and December of 1951 were in sync. Gildy did 3 different Christmas specials in '51 and so we'll have 3 different Christmas Specials here too. This is the 2nd Christmas '51 show from December 19th of that year and next week we'll have the 3rd Christmas show for you from 1951.

Today we find Gildy wanting to buy his girlfriend Paula just the right gift. But what could it be? Gildy is inspired finally and knows. It's the traditional Christmas episode they did each year from 1949 on, but every time they did it it was always changed in the slightest of ways. But the show was originally broadcast live on December 17, 1974. Your Humble Host was busy back then as at one time I was recording 3 Shep shows a week. But thank goodness for those original tapes of mine, I can now play them for you. Enjoy this Part One of a 2 part Shepherd show (unusual for Jean to do a 2 parter, but here's one occasion).
