The state confirmed that 7,526 people have died from COVID-19 complications to date. The latest daily total is not reflective of deaths in the past 24 hours, but rather recent weeks.

For the third straight day, Florida reported a new record high number of new coronavirus deaths: 253. That’s significantly higher than the 216 deaths reported Wednesday and the 191 deaths listed Tuesday. Florida now has had 6,709 people die from COVID-19 complications, according to the state Department of Health.

All state-run coronavirus testing sites across Florida are closing ahead of what’s expected to become Tropical Storm Isaias. In a tweet on Wednesday evening, the Florida Division of Emergency Management said the testing sites will close beginning 5 p.m. Thursday.
