Reports of an active shooter sent shoppers at the Town Center mall in Boca Raton into a panic yesterday afternoon. Many fled the mall, followed store employees to safe spaces, or sheltered in place as police worked to clear the mall. Some minor injuries from trips and falls were reported. One man was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.

Police confirmed yesterday that the deaths of 2 people found 9 hours apart in the Hollywood beach area were a murder-suicide. Police say that George Haitz killed Renee Roth on the beach and then went back to his hotel room and took his own life. However, cops didn’t say how the 2 died or give the victim’s ages.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wants to increase the minimum salary for teachers across the state. His 2020 budget proposal would raise the minimum salary for more than 101,000 teachers in Florida to $47,500. The change would cost taxpayers $600 million.
