Psalm 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!

We were not just saved from something; we were saved for something.

A life blessed by God will go beyond the borders to proclaim the gospel.

Instead of fulfilling their calling, they had become complacent.

1. Declaration of compassion (v. 2–4)

Psalm 63:3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.

God’s compassion is best demonstrated through the cross.

Quote: “The cross of Christ is the response of God to men for belittling His name. The cross exists because mankind—loved by God, created by God, set in motion by God—betrayed God and prefers his stuff to Him.”

1. Declaration of complacency (vv. 2–4)

Never let a life of complacency stand in the way of your calling.

Never doubt God’s love just because life gets difficult.

When you start doubting God’s love, you will miss out on God’s direction.

1. Declaration of commission (v. 5)

Malachi 1:5 Your eyes will see this and you will say, “The Lord be magnified beyond the border of Israel!”

Isaiah 9:6 I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation shall reach to the end of the earth.

Psalm 67:4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy

2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God find their yes in him.

1 Thessalonians 1:8 For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

Introduction:

Movements move, and if you’re not moving, you’re not a part of the movement.

1. Jesus gave us a powerful proclamation in the gospel.

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

1. Jesus gave us a powerful promise in the Holy Spirit.

• We want to be a movement.

• We want to empower and release you to follow the Spirit.

Quote: “The apostles didn't have years of seminary or formal training under their belts, but they did have the power of the Holy Spirit” 

Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

• We never want to be a ministry that takes care of our own needs, or a place people attend.

So many come to church today with a cavalier attitude and we miss out on the greatness of experiencing God because we’re not prepared.

Those who make a difference aren’t always the best, but they care the most!

1. Define the Mission Carefully (vv. 4–5)

When God saved you, He simultaneously called you into the mission of God.

1. Make Plans Carefully (vv. 6–8)

      His request was specific.

Luke 14:28 For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?

Proverbs 16:3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

      His response was in faith.

2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

1. Inspire People Passionately (vv. 17–18)

His PASSION was an overflow of his PERSONAL walk with God.

COMMUNION with God increases your CONFIDENCE in life.
