The City of Portland may add a new directional area: South Portland. Addresses in the area west of the Willamette River and east of Southwest Naito Parkway currently start with zeroes. The city’s 911 system cannot handle the zeroes, causing confusion for dispatchers and emergency responders. The proposed change would eliminate the zeroes in addresses.
