Georgia and Texas square off in the SEC football championship game, a rematch that Georgia won earlier this year. Oddsmakers favor Texas by 2 1/2 (as does our composite computer model) with an over-under of 49, making for an implied final score of Texas 26, Georgia 23. Georgia’s Carson Beck seems to be past his mid-season interception problems, but his receiving corps has also dropped a ton of balls.

Texas’s defense may be the best in the country, and perhaps the best unit in the SEC on either side.

It was a memorable SEC regular season in football, with 13 teams becoming bowl-eligible, and Chase Robinson and Chris Lee power-rank the league’s 16 teams at regular season’s end. Topics include:

Alabama could make the College Football Playoff after winning the Iron Bowl.

Arkansas dropped its finale at Missouri but coach Sam Pittman will be going bowling.

Auburn has now had four-straight losing seasons.

Florida finished the regular season 7-5 after starting 1-2 with five ranked teams left on its schedule.

Georgia will get a rematch with Texas after an memorable win over Georgia Tech.

Kentucky had a bitterly disappointing season with a lone conference win coming against Ole Miss.

LSU had an underrated 8-4 season under coach Brian Kelly.

Ole Miss had all three losses come in one-score games and won its nine others all by double figures. - Mississippi State lost all eight SEC games by double digits.

Missouri ended up 9-3 in the regular season thanks to more Brady Cook heroics.

Oklahoma will also go bowling but had a disappointing showing at LSU.

South Carolina, behind LaNorris Sellers, made a playoff push thanks to winning at Clemson.

Tennessee is heading to the playoff and possibly hosting a home game.

Texas finished the season as the league’s only one-loss team.

Texas A&M went 9-3 and failed to score an offensive touchdown vs. Texas.

Vanderbilt was the league’s surprise, with Clark Lea taking the Commodores to 6-6.
