Join me this week for some talk about the April pink full moon, Vaisakhi celebration in Port Alberni and what laughter can do for your spirit!

In the spirit of Vaisakhi celebration in Port Alberni where I was invited for food and celebration at 2 temples, I reflect on the sense of community and beautiful taste of culture shock within my home town. I am drinking a nice woody Indian black tea called Bermiok Sikkim Merveille… “it tastes like drawing nutrients from the earth…”

Conversation leads itself to what I value in my work with mental health in the context of my poetry coaching: inner work, healing, education, resilience, and laughter! What laughter does for the spirit and body, especially when coming from a deep place of unknowns, hardship, anxiety or trauma. How to find yourself in a place of authentic self love with a real belly laugh!

Today I am digging into an aged shou puerh tuo from 2005! A beautifully aged, mellow yet powerful tea!
Accidentally aged by hanging out in my collection (don’t think all of your teas can age this way!) I demonstrate breaking apart a tough chunk like this one and the process of preparing your teapot.

I also get into details about my new coaching program “Pen To Soul”. What brought me to create it, who it’s for and how it can tremendously help people going through certain experiences: trauma, mental health struggles, grief & loss, or simply a mindfulness practice guided by your favourite tea shaman. It’s about the power of writing to clear your mind of what you’ve been holding on to, and transforming it into something beautiful.

In this episode, I explore and share some elements of what United Plant Savers does. Off their website: United Plant Savers’ mission is to protect native medicinal plants, fungi, and their habitats while ensuring renewable populations for future generations.
I discuss their Artist In Residence program, Bastyr’s Sacred Seed Trail, International Herb Symposium, Conservation Ticket, and their recognition of Species at Risk.

I learned a lot studying this organization and appreciate how they give back to the earth and encourage spreading knowledge about medical and native plants. It is important for us all to be aware of what is around us on this planet and take care of the habitats for where endangered species grow.
