Today Joe and Bill talked about the Souls in Purgatory and how they need our intercession. They also addressed the conditions for Indulgences how, through the means of an Indulgence, we can release a soul from purgatory between November 2 – November 8. This month lets pray particularly for the Souls in Purgatory.

Today Joe talked about the 12 Promises accompanying the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He also shared St. Margaret Mary’s (the visionary of the Sacred Heart) insight to “pure love” and how abnegation and a complete abandonment of self with a singular focus on God’s most Holy Will for us in our lives is how we grow in rapid holiness.

Today Joe talked about the spiritual warfare found in prayer. It is in possessing this intellectual knowledge that we can defeat the cunning nature of the enemy. Secondly Joe went on to share a beautiful letter by a Romanian doctor that was provided to the Synod outlining and discussing the core problem seen in the family today. In short, “The primary cause of the sexual and cultural revolution is ideological. It’s the task of the shepherds (Holy Father, Cardinals and Bishops) to recognize it, warn the flock against this danger. The Church’s mission is to save souls. Evil, in this world, comes from sin. Not from income disparity or “climate change”. Not an ever increasing government control. The solution is: Evangelization. Conversion..”

 

Today Joe talked about getting ready for the liturgical New Year starting on Sunday November 29, 2015. What spiritual changes are you going to make? What is God calling you to? How are you going to answer the call? Get ready now, game on!

Today Joe discussed the Pope’s visit to the United States. He also discussed the upcoming Ordinary Synod on October 4 – 25, 2015 in Rome. Rounding out the Show he talked about St. Catherine of Siena and how through the assistance of our Lord, Lady, Saints, and the Angels, she was able to conquer incredible onslaughts of temptations from the demons.

Today Joe discussed the supernatural spiritual nutrition in frequently receiving Holy Communion. This source and summit of spiritual strength is an indispensable perquisite to living a life of virtue and holiness. His catechesis stemmed from two great saints: St. Peter Julian Eymard and St. Robert Bellarmine. Their writings provide a wealth of insight and understanding to the true power we have as Catholics in this most treasured gift of receiving Our Lord Jesus Christ: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity at each Holy Communion in each Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, every day, all over the world.

Today Joe discussed the survey on Catholic families and how abyssal the percentages were when it came to embracing Sunday Mass and the Sacramental life. Due to a lack of catechesis, the value proposition for choosing the Catholic faith, Sacramental life and all that the Church has to offer is not understood nor fully embraced. The path to freedom, fruitfulness, peace, joy, sweetness, and union with Our Lord is missed. Meaning in life is void and the state of our immortal soul is placed in jeopardy of being saved. We can do our part by encouraging our Priests to preach the Truth and Hot button issues as well as ourselves being pure examples of the Faith by living fully our vocation. A life rich in prayer, penance, and frequent reception of the Sacraments. We can’t give what we don’t have. As St. Francis of Assisi said “ Always preach the gospel and when necessary use words.” At the end of the day, it comes down to our actions to bring others back to the Faith and a closer union with our Lord.

Today Joe followed up on a caller’s question regarding the limited amount of time for Confession and whether she should ask her priest for additional days/ times for this Sacrament. In addition to saying yes, Joe appealed to Priests encouraging them to put first things first and to always remember that the Sacraments are paramount taking pride and place over apostolic activities of the parish.

Joe switched over to discussing the life of St. Louis IX and the legendary letter he wrote to his son. The details of the letter give insight to the saint himself as well as an instructional to all of us on how to live a holy life that is pleasing to God!

Today Joe talked about the foundation and mechanics of how to make a good and proper Confession. He led the listeners through the Prayer before Confession, Examination of Conscience (10 Commandments, Precepts of the Church, Seven Capital Sins), Method of Confession, and Prayer after Confession. We must remember that frequent good Confessions are an indispensable prerequisite for living a holy life!
