Today Joe lit it up on the topic of recognizing our Mission as Catholics. The unique nature and path of our Mission (God’s Most holy will for us) is different for every one of us. Whether we “look in the mirror and study our reflection” …(St. Clare) truly coming to terms with our growth in holiness or not is a decision we all have to make. By the virtue of free will, each one of us can either choose to embrace or ignore this reality in our lives and ultimately decide our eternal path moving forwards.

Joe also commented upon the life of St. John Vianney and how he serves as an inspiration to fulfilling one’s Mission, growing in holiness, and making our Lord proud!

Today Joe commented upon an article entitled “Pope Francis seems to be obsessed with the Devil”, by Fr. Thomas Rosica, CEO of Canada’s Salt & Light Catholic Media Foundation. Joe adds the color commentary on that, yes, the devil is real and the Pope calls a spade a spade. “Whoever wants to follow Jesus must be aware of the devil. The life of every Christian is a constant battle against evil, just as Jesus during His life had to struggle against the devil and his many temptations”.

Today Joe commented upon the Archbishop’s Pastoral Letter entitled “The Preacher – Servant of the Word of God”.  The Archbishop did a wonderful job explaining the emphasis and importance of the homily as an instrument to evangelize and catechize. He also spelled out the different types of audiences that attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass each week as a way to help the priest tailor his preaching accordingly. Joe also discussed the importance of frequenting the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as much as possible and how through it, we can increase self-oblation as a path to holiness in seeking to do God’s most Holy Will.

Today Joe spoke about the upcoming Synod in October 2015 and the issues still on the table to be addressed. He also shared a personal story about the power of prayer and God’s mercy that unfolded and led to a miracle during the labor and delivery of his son Gregory. In the end, we have to trust and know that God’s got our back!

Today Joe spoke about the concerns revealed in the German Bishop’s questionnaire regarding the laity’s understanding and desire for change in Church Teaching and Outreach to Families. On another note, he also discussed it is through an emptying of ourselves and allowing Christ to fill us that we begin to manifest a personal holiness and show the great power of God in our lives.

 

Today Joe read and commented upon the formal USCCB response to Homosexual Marriage. He also talked about our Catholic personal accountability and tactics for moving forward as a result of this Supreme Court decision.

 

Today Joe clearly and concisely explained why homosexual marriage is both destructive to the body and more importantly the soul.

Today Joe talked about the fundamental importance of keeping up with our spiritual lives in the summer and especially at times of transition and unpredictability. He also commented further on  the article written by Mark Brumley for the National Catholic Register entitled “Is the Catholic Church Losing the Numbers Game”. In the end, whether the numbers are up or down, we are called to be faithful and be a light in the darkness radiating the Truth by our actions!

Whether the count of the faithful is up or down, fidelity to Christ remains the primary goal. Joe commented on this piece to highlight not only the state of the Church, but also to remind ourselves why we are Catholic. Knowing why is only the beginning,  what we do with that knowledge by putting it in to action is what counts.

Bottom line, Do you want to be a Saint? Are you willing to pay the price for Eternal Salvation? To highlight this question Joe read a letter from St. Francis of Paola on the topic of “Be converted with a sincere heart”. Give it some thought and put your plan together now. Life is short and eternity is forever!
