  • One God. Three Persons?

#04: The Godhead, Trinity, Triune, Deity, whatever term you use, wrapping our head around three people in one can be a bit confusing. In this episode we explore why it is important for us to know each person of the Trinity and how our earthly family dynamics can impact how we view the Godhead.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Dr. Scott Horrell of Dallas Theological Seminary says, “Understanding who God is will define why you and I exist, who we are as persons, and how we may most be fulfilled individually and in relation to other persons, the natural world, and most of all our Creator.”
    • Dr. Scott Horrell of Dallas Theological Seminary says, “Understanding who God is will define why you and I exist, who we are as persons, and how we may most be fulfilled individually and in relation to other persons, the natural world, and most of all our Creator.”
    • Jesus is God just as the Father is God, not lesser or greater. He performs miracles that only God can do. He forgives sins, and He accepts worship. In every interaction with creation, Jesus reveals Himself as the Son of God.
    • The Holy Spirit is the “other” Counselor with Jesus. He possesses all the divine attributes of God. He is no greater and no lesser than the Father or the Son. He has proceeded from both the Father and the Son for all eternity.
    • Our earthly family dynamics can have an influence on how we view the Trinity.

For this week’s HPS Challenge, take out your journal and spend at least 15 minutes in a quiet space if possible. Exam your view of each member of the trinity. In Episodes 2 & 3 where we learned about the attributes of God, you had the challenge to examine your view of God and we learned the attributes to shed any truth to any false beliefs you might have had. Explore your views of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. What did you learn from today’s episode that shed truth on any false beliefs you might have had? Were you intimidated about the Holy Spirit? What are your views now?

  • The Helper We Are Searching For and Need

#01: How would you feel if you confidently made decisions without second guessing yourself? Instead of turning to books, podcasts, friends you could find the exact truth you need?

    Key takeaways from this episode:

    • God left us with a comforter, the Holy Spirit. We see this in John 14:16-17
    • Good mentors leave a permanent mark on your heart. They make an impact and inspire and encourage you.
    • One drawback to these mentors is, they are human. While they can inspire you and teach you, they can’t transfer to you the knowledge, habits, and character they’ve developed over the years. The best they can do is show you the path to develop those characteristics yourself.
    • A spirit led life is one who consults the Father before all things. In every area of their life.
    • God wants to be a part of every aspect of our being. This is why he dwells within us.
    • You can have a deep, meaningful, intimate relationship with God.

Either way, I want to challenge you to take out your journal and take at least 15 minutes in a quiet space if you can and write down all the things you believe about God. Be honest and open. Write the good and the bad. Now hang on to this and in the next episode your learn more of what we will do with this information.
