  • Two Way Communication with God - Still Small Voice & Audible Voice

#24: This is the second episode in a series we started with episode 23 on hearing God’s voice.

Knowing your purpose and how to hear God’s voice are the two most popular questions believers have in their faith journey. You can experience both and when you listen to God’s voice, you discover more of who he made you to be and bonus, you start to understand your purpose.

On today’s episode we are going to explore two of the ways we can hear God’s voice, the still small voice and when God speaks out loud. I thought it would be fun to cover these together since one is a small voice and the other is an audible voice, which for some you might imagine God’s voice as a booming, thunderous voice. But is it?

    Key Take-Aways:

    • 2:56 - The Still Small Voice
    • 11:42 - Why you might not hear from God
    • 15:59 - The Audible Voice of God
    • 21:52 - Spiritual Perception

    Heavenly Position Guidance Challenge:

For this week’s Heavenly Position System Challenge, take our your journals and find a quiet place if possible. For the next 15 minutes, take some time to communicate with God. This is a chance to sit in stillness and practice. Write down on your page, God do you love me? Now just start writing what you hear. Keep writing, don’t censor yourself or overthink it.

Now when you are done, you can either go back and read what you just wrote or you can save it and revisit it later. I know for me a lot of times, I go back the next day and read what I wrote and I’m always amazed.

Let me know how this exercise goes for you. Be sure to reply to the weekly emails to let me know. I want to support you in anyway I can.

  • Two Way Communication with God - The Foundation

#23: We are starting a new series on the Spirit Led Life podcast and one I’m sure that has been anticipated. It is finally time to explore together how to hear from God.

Knowing your purpose and how to hear God’s voice are the two most popular questions believers have in their faith journey. You can experience both and I’ll let you in on a little secret, when you listen to God’s voice, you discover more of who he made you to be and bonus, you start to understand your purpose.

Right now the plan is for this to be a 6 part series where we will explore why it is important to listen to his voice, the ways we can hear him and we will go more in depth on each of the ways, how to discern his voice and what it means for us to start communicating with him. The reason I say the plan is a 6 part series because if you’ve been listening for a while, I move with God and if he decides to change things up, I’m going to move with him.

On today’s episode we are going to set the foundation for hearing God’s voice. We will discuss why it is important, the 50,000 foot view of the different ways you can hear from him and how to discern if what you are hearing is God’s voice.

    Key Take-Aways:

    • 5:19 - Setting the foundation of hearing from God
    • 9:50 - Why it is important to have communication with God
    • 12:26 - Ways God might speak to you
    • 13:26 - Some things to consider when determining if something that you heard or something that you really sense is from God
    • 18:16 - Inviting Him to have daily communication with you

    • Ep. 5 - How Are You Created In God's Image?
    • Ep. 7 - Who is the Holy Spirit?
    • Ep. 11 - Caring For Your Soul
    • Ep. 12 - Your Family Dynamics Influence Your View of God

    Heavenly Position Guidance Challenge:

For this week’s HPS Challenge, take out your journal and spend at least 15 minutes in a quiet space if possible. For the next 15 minutes, write down all the concerns you have about hearing from God. Get out any fears, worries, or concerns. Now open your bible and ask God to show you in scripture the truth to your concerns. This might take some time and it might not happen at that very moment. Be aware of your request you have made and watch for God to show you throughout the day or even week. Be sure to write down what he reveals to you.

In honor of this book, I thought it would be great to share some excerpts from the book, share why I wrote it and what is its message and share what I think about it five years later. Does the message still hold true? Would I still write the same message today?

In today’s show I’ll share a little behind the scenes about how the book came to fruition, why I wrote this book and who it is for.

    Key Takeaways:

    • I share what God said about who the book is for.
    • How the cover came to be.
    • How God orchestrated different times in my life for this book.
    • Aligning your desires with God's desires.

  • Q+A: Centering on Jesus, Embracing a New Season + New Series

#18: On today’s episode, we are doing a little listener Q&A. I’ll discuss practical ways to center on Jesus for a rested & refreshed spirit, how to embrace a new season and why and how I start calling God Poppy.  I’m also going to share a new mini-series we will be doing for the rest of the month of May.

    Key Takeaways:

    • When you need guidance, always consult Holy Spirit first.
    • I can give you tips all day long but those are things that worked for me. What works for me might not work for you.
    • Ask God and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the answers, whether it is through journaling, through his word, through confirmation from a brother or sister in the Lord, nature, prayer, however you communicate with God.
    • When questioning whether you are hearing from God, is it loving or condemning? Does it align with God’s word? Does it align with God’s character?
    • God has many different names and here are just a few: Adonai, El Roi, El Shaddai, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Shalom, Yahweh, and LORD.
    • Trust God and always remember He is your source. Everything else is a resource.
    • If He is bringing you into a new season, He will equip you with what you need right when you need it.
    • Marking the ending of one season helps us with the future seasons. Also by marking the end of a season, it gives us something to look back on and celebrate all God has done in our lives and how far he has brought us.

    • Ep. 12: Your Family Dynamics Influence Your View of God
    • Ep. 15: God's Invitation to the Unknown
    • Ep. 16: God Wants ALL of You

    Heavenly Position Guidance Challenge:

For this week’s HPS Challenge, Take this time to gather your journal and find a quiet place if possible. For the next 15 minutes answer the questions that came in for yourself:

What practical things can I do to intentionally center on Jesus in order to maintain a rested, refreshed spirit?

What ways can I embrace a new season and leave my comfort zone - whether it is family, work, business etc.

What would it mean for our relationship to call God by another name?

Go as deep as you want with him. It is so fun to go down what I call rabbit holes with him and follow where he leads you.

  • God Wants ALL of You

#16: Intimacy. I’m curious what thoughts come to mind when you hear that word?

When I first started hearing it in my Christian circles used to describe a relationship with God, I admit I had a distorted understanding of its meaning and it felt a little tabu to be using it to describe a relationship with God.

Today’s episode will be a little shorter than normal because there’s only so much I can say without starting to get redundant but what the Holy Spirit shares with us is pretty powerful.

We are going to learn the true meaning of the word intimacy, what it means to be intimate with God and why he wants all of us.

    Key Take-Aways:

    • The true meaning of intimacy is closeness, familiarity and friendship.
    • Pslams 139:7-10 ”Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.“
    • Proverbs 18:24 “Some friendships don’t last for long, but there is one loving friend who is joined to your heart closer than any other!”
    • When we talk about growing in intimacy with God, we are talking about friendship.
    • How can we start cultivating a friendship with God? By simply including him.
    • Deuteronomy 31:8 reads, ”The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
    • No longer do you have to feel lonely or like you don’t fit in; He calls you His child. Intimacy is the foundation of experiencing God’s best.

Go to him like you would an earthly friend and share everything with him. Don’t hold back. Pour it all out on the paper. Allow him to be a friend back to you.

  • God's Invitation to the Unknown

#15: On today’s episode, we are exploring what might be possible to be comfortable in the unknown. I know I may not be alone in saying this but ever since the pandemic, we seem to be living in a more unfamiliar world than ever before.

It seems this unfamiliar territory isn’t going to change anytime soon so how can we calm our souls so we aren’t in a constant state of trying to understand the meaning or make sense of everything?

    Key Take-Aways:

    • Being in the unknown is an invitation from God to trust him more.
    • Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
    • No matter what happens, we have victory in Christ.
    • Jeremiah 29:11 ”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
    • When you only see two different outcomes or what is also known as the duality pendulum. It is black or white thinking. Outcome A or B.
    • In order to break this pendulum of swinging back and forth between only two possible outcomes, you are invited to sit down and write out 20 more possible outcomes.
    • Being comfortable with the unknown is being in God’s presence.
    • Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

For this week’s HPS Challenge, take out your journal and spend at least 15 minutes in a quiet space if possible. For the next 15 minutes, take a problem, situation or whatever your mind is focusing on right now. Are you stuck in the duality pendulum? Take the next 15 minutes and write out 20 other possible outcomes. Don’t hold back. Get as wild as possible with your ideas. Have fun with it. Once you’ve gotten all other possibilities out, assess your soul. What are you experiencing now in your countenance?
