I remember listening to a sermon once by Dr. Lester Sumrall. He was ministering to Bible School students I think, but I remember him preaching about leadership in the Body of Christ. I remember especially his response to being late to class as: "leaders don't lead from behind" and went on to rebuke anyone for thinking that God will use them in any great way if they maintain that kind of attitude and behavior in their walk with Christ. You see, there's a lot gained in having a right attitude toward the Lord, in having the expectancy AND preparation that goes along with it. Just like the five Prudent Virgins who took extra oil along with their lamps; they expected the Bridegroom to come in the middle of the night for them. They looked for Him. They had faith that kept them going when it got dark outside. Are you ready to choose the Way of the Prudent?

Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seems right to a person, But its end is the way of death." If you think that you're doing the right things in life, you could be on your way to hell and not really aware of it, and you might have a cheer squad cheering you all the way there! The way of this world is NOT the Way of the Lord Jesus. He never parallels, He is always opposite to the general flow of man and his stream of corruption. God wants us to follow Him and this requires that we make choices that honor His Word and His Spirit. This is the only way we can effectively have the stamina to continue our journey with Him, a journey that can often feel like we are wrestling against a current that seeks to drown us! In Matthew 25, Jesus called five of the ten virgins who were prepared to stick it out, who had a reserve of oil for their lamps to help them journey through the darkness at the Bridegroom's call, He called them prudent. Being prudent means we actively do something because we care about our future! We have to choose to actively pursue Jesus if we really care about Him, and if we want to love and impact those around us, and spend eternity with Him. You can choose to start on this journey with Jesus today...

The word love has so many meanings in our culture. We love our dog. We love ice cream. We love our new shoes. We love our new car. We love Jesus. Wow, how many ways we can love and yet that word has different meanings for us when we attach it to the object of our love, right? Imagine the opportunity to live in the ancient world where you would wait with your friend the bride for her groom to come at random and pick her up and carry her off to their new house in the middle of the night! And if you waited with her and he showed up, you got to go with them to his house where he was throwing a big party with lots of music and plenty of rich food! Well, the Bible calls that the Wedding supper of the Lamb and its in the book of Revelation, chapter 19. But Jesus mentions it in Matthew 25 when He shares a story which is commonly referred to as the "the Parable of the 10 Virgins"--and only 5 out of 10 actually made it to the Wedding supper because they truly LOVED his appearing...listen to find out more!

Probably the easiest day in our walk with Christ is day one, where all we had to do was confess our sins, acknowledge our need for Jesus and receive Him into our heart--His free gift of salvation and the future of living in heaven with Him, right? John 3:16 tells us of this promise. Now, I know you've probably heard that little saying that a 1000 mile journey begins with the first step, and yet many of us choose to remain stuck in those first few steps of salvation because we're not letting Jesus lead us in His Way of doing things. He desires for us to have abundant life down the trail, but we must submit ourselves now to His Truth, which is His Word, in order to experience His Life on this journey with Him. So, if you're tired of struggling with darkness and sin in your life, or if you feel weak in your commitment to Him, start today. His gracious kindness and mercy is available no matter where you're at on the trail! He even offers us help with carrying our loads in Matthew 11:28-30. He is ready to help us walk this life out--but we must let Him have His Way!

Whether its the bondage of this world or the dryness of a wilderness walk, it's time to let the Lord draw us out of darkness and into His glorious light and liberty! Jesus desires for us to have the strength necessary to overcome difficulties in this life, and that strength cannot be found without time apart with Him. He then can cleanse us from idols...those we may not even realize we're clinging to. He wants us to find our love and comfort in Him, to know He desires to give our parched souls Living Water so that we'll never be thirsty again!
