Here in the US one in five adults identify as “spiritual but not religious.” Now only twenty percent of these “spiritual” adults believe in the God of the Bible. Instead most of them believe in “some other higher power or spiritual force.”
This is a reminder that we can’t just start with Jesus when witnessing. Many people have no concept of the biblical God. Instead, we need to start the way God does—in Genesis! We need to help people see God as the Creator and to understand how sin entered creation, then we can introduce them to Jesus. After all, the good news only makes sense if you understand the bad news first!
