Vidam is a Berlin-based visual artist and illustrator who's been painting walls for some 18 years, starting in abandoned buildings with Berlin's graffiti writers to the present day, where he paints his own style on massive walls around Europe.

Naturally, those 18 years have been a winding road of creative avenues to get him to the point his at today, focusing exclusively on his own unique characters and the sharp angles and straight lines he's known for today.

On this episode, we discuss that path, leading from graphic design to graffiti characters to founding a design agency and finally to going it alone. We also have a good whine about the early promise of social media and its present-day failures.

Bilos is a Greek illustrator and street artist who's been painting walls from just 12 years old. It's always been with him. Alongside high school and university, he persisted, eventually doing commissions on the side as he studied. Naturally, he's also been aware of how social media plays a role in the documentation of street art and the slippery slope between painting for yourself and painting for your audience.

Bailer is a multi-disciplinary artist who's been creating for 24 years. He's deeply involved and still active in Melbourne's graffiti culture, and he produces studio work, runs a gallery and, most recently, has launched a thick-ass book 13 years in the making, documenting Melbourne's monumental graffiti history.

Over his 24 years, Bailer has never deviated from his graffiti roots. While he's expanded his artistic expressions, it's graffiti that he always leans back on, and he's still out regularly painting walls today. So passionate about the scene, he spends a good portion of his time elevating it as much as possible. Let's Pretend Gallery has been a hub for other artists, and Wallstories is almost like a love letter to the culture.

Today, Bailer tells wild stories about his experiences and the unbelievable serendipity that led to the production of his momentous new book.

On the podcast today, Steph sits down with Melbourne-based British urban contemporary artist Mysterious Al, one of the artists active during the UK's early street art wave, gaining fame from his work and the epic illegal street exhibitions he put on with some of today's most famous street artists.

Famous since the 2000s for his street art, Al sat on the artistic extremes. A street art practice that suited only the streets and a professional illustration career polished and far from the art he dreamt of creating.

In recent years, Al kicked his corporate career to the curb and worked to create his own unique style, rejecting the perfect lines, and typical practises of artists to instead strip it all back, ripping paper to shreds and finding inspiration with the pieces on the floor, creating collages that would turn into artworks, discovering a process to build his own artistic language that's unmistakably Mysterious Al.

Today, we talk about that journey, the exhilarating process of messing shit up to find the art in the pieces and his insane exhibition, Spookhouse, which almost cost him his house deposit and literally gave him a hernia.

On the podcast today, we sit down with Japanese multi-disciplinary artist TWO ONE, who started painting on the streets some 17 years ago, just out of high school, new to Melbourne, speaking little of the language and finding community among other enthusiastic street artists.

With an exhibition success early in his public painting days, TWOONE realised he was on the path to his artistic dreams and hasn't stopped since. After a decade in Melbourne, he moved to Berlin, establishing himself in the European scene and building a career as an iconic street and studio painter and sculptor.

Today, from his new home in Italy, TWOONE and I discuss the journey up to now. How he found the motifs prevalent in his work and the amazing fluidity he has had all through those 17 years. If you had to put a face to the ideal of following one's bliss, it would have to be Hiroyasu.
