We start very nearly exactly where we left off in the last book, and turns out that there's a whole OTHER conversation that was happening between Tom and their dad in the last book! It had nothing to even do with the whole Sun thing at all!
And we're getting one of my most beloved/feared tropes of all time: "Wait, what about the authority figures who are better at this than us? What do you mean, they're dead/depowered/in hiding/etc???"

The final chapters here are kind of anti-climactic in some ways, if I'm honest. The whole sort-of confrontation with the sun is taken acre of off-page by Roshaun, and I'm still not particularly impressed with him. I find it kind of odd how that went, TBH. At least what's going on RE: Alaalu is more compelling, because the Lone One gets foiled by a dog, which is pretty rad. But overall this book felt a little more passive than some of the others have. I'm interested in seeing where we go next!

She and Sanjeet make it to a mysterious woman who has a ton of Tutsu, AKA fairies, living all over her property.
