This penultimate episode is the one in which we finally see what happened to Olivia that fateful night all those years ago, and we also get to meet Poppy. It's unclear whether Poppy is really herself, or if this is the house using Poppy as a puppet, but either way she's very effective.
This episode was less scary than sad, because we know the tragic conclusion to Olivia's life. But I think that the Red Room is making a lot more sense to me now!
Can't wait to see how they handle things as a family in the final episode.

This episode was really fun because there's so much unity going on with the girls who are forced to endure detention together, and it's REALLY good to have the air cleared between Ola and Maeve, as well as between Ola and Lily. Also, my heart was warmed by the sisterhood moment at the end when they all turn up to escort Aimee to school on the bus.
Also I really hope that Otis gets in so much trouble because he's really being a total asshole.

These are the final chapters of Ruin & Rising, and while I've made no secret of my frustration with the series and my irritation with the pacing overall, I'm pleased to say that I was actually pleasantly surprised by this ending. While yes, she does wind up with Mal, and yes, she does save the day and yes, Nikolai is saved...it still manages to happen in an unexpected way. So you know what? I'm leaving on a sweet note and I'm happy with that.

So this is the penultimate episode of coverage of Ruin & Rising and I feel like other than the discovery that Mal is the amplifier the story has pretty much stood still over the past few episodes and I'm really needing things to get a move on, here. I definitely want to know what happens, but I'm just so fed up with Alina whining and being shocked that the Darkling is a Bad Guy that I am very ready for this book to be over so we can move onto The King Of Scars.

These chapters are the ones in which the team has split up and is attempting to convince different sects within Sacred Valley to evacuate, with mixed results. The most successful is Zeil, who barely has to make an argument because the clan he's speaking with specializes in Earth aura and already seems to understand what's happening...but as for everyone else, it hasn't been good. Even Lindon's task doesn't go super well, although he does get them convinced in the end.
