But the main event of this set of chapters is the hideous, sickening, DISGUSTING island which is actually a floating piece of Nakothi's corpse. And I HATE ALL OF IT.

First we get a lot of information about Nami and her childhood, and it turns out she was adopted by a virtual stranger along with her "sister" in a tragic turn of events. Then we find out that indeed she did NOT kill Usopp, and instead hurt HERSELF to make it look convincing! I'm impressed.

I'm so sorry for Maeve tho, even though I really do think she did the right thing. And My god but that musical was...really something.

We're slowly learning a little more about the lore of this universe, and we get to see just how specialized and secret the Gardener faction of the Consultants is. Lucan, as it turns out, is a rare badass with his reading abilities, while Shera is in a different league from everyone else by virtue of her attitude if not her lack of empathy. Meia, on the other hand, struggles to keep up despite never being willing to quit. It must really suck being Yala's kid.

These chapters we get to see more of how the Gardners get trained and how the Consultants are set up. Apparently Gardeners are pretty rare, judging by the reception that Shera gets when it's assumed she's going to be a Mason. I really enjoy the names for all these positions, and I'm super curious to learn more about the lore of this place and how the hell the magical system really works.
