This section we get an absolutely devastating sequence where Lindon manages to pull an OG Blackflame out of his madness using his friend Little Blue. The elation he feels at doing a bit of good is one of the most pure senses of success he's ever experienced.
And the Sophara kills the guy anyway.
It's brutal, you guys. I wasn't ready.

Only three more episodes of this series to go, and I have no idea how we're going to wrap up so quickly! This episode is the one where they sorta come to a conclusion I theorized on last episode, in which I suggested maybe using the World Seed to create a new Fillory...or something? What it comes down to is that they want to allw Fillory to be destroyed, and Fen is not okay with it.
And meanwhile, I'm having mixed feelings about this season and it seems like I'm really not going to be satisfied by the time this is all over. I guess we will have to wait and see!

Whew, so these chapters are getting spicy now, kids! We find out that Lorkin doesn't even know why he was let out of prison, and he winds up being the target of yet another undercover agent disguised as a slave. He gets saved by a Traitor YET AGAIN (you owe them a lot, Lorkin) and finally gets smuggled out of the Guild House by Ashaki Achati.
Meanwhile, Sonea is traveling and dealing with some confrontational conversation about the history between her and Regin. I think that there's been some hints that things might grow romantic between the two of them and I'm NOT here for it.

So in this section we see Lindon reveal a little more about himself than I gave him credit for, and after kind of showing his hand he winds up rocketing up to number 10 and getting noticed. Yerin comes in right after him, and I just have to say that I'm so delighted there's a way that they can start off competing with one another without actually fighting.
Then we get the Hunger Games version of the Tournament that I expected from the start, and it turns out that they're going to be fighting over these weird crowns. And who shows up? You know who. And she's pissed and vicious and I'm askeered.

This episode is when we FINALLY get the answer to so many of the questions that I've been asking (and which NOBODY else has been asking, BTW) and it's actually pretty interesting. Turns out that the Takers are the guard dogs of the Underworld, and they've been dragging people away because...I guess they're confused over who is alive and who is dead and deserves to be pulled into Hell?
Whatever. We get to see Hades again, and I find him so compelling but ALSO goddamn dude take some fucking responsibility. You fucking BAILED and your shit started to fall apart. This is YOUR fault! WHERE YOU BEEN, bro?

In this section we wind up at the Ninecloud Empire for the tournament and it's a close thing for Yerin & Co. regarding their arrival in time to qualify. I'm shocked at how cavalier everyone is regarding the attacks on the way to the competition, and I keep questioning why the damn dragons are even allowed in the tournament. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED???
Also, we get to see the start of Round 1 and it's very different than what I was expecting. It's more structured and methodical than I thought, although I kind of like it.

Alright kids, we're getting into the final installment of this series! In this section, we see how Alina is basically being abused by the Apparat, kept away from her friends and used as a figurehead and a pawn. It's really awful to see how effective he is at this, too, because damn it's really like without the crew she already had at her back she wouldn't have gotten out of this.
But get out she does (kind of) due to some orchestrated help and an elaborate plan. Hopefully now that she's reestablished her connection with the sun, she's going to get healthier and stronger and be able to take control.

So we're into Season 4 now, and it looks like this is going to be quite a ride. I really appreciate the show's acknowledgement that Rebecca is in an absurdly privileged position within this whole situation, and that for her this is some kind of Eat, Pray, Love personal journey shit while there are people who have had their lives destroyed.
I am totally into this whole thing with Josh trying to self-diagnose using online quizzes, because damn if that shit ain't for real.

I gotta say, I really love how this author has chosen to address the fact that Lindon never received official combat training. This is actually an elegant way to incorporate that into the story in a natural way that accounts for the fact that there are some things that grit and determination are no substitute for, as much as we might like to pretend formal education doesn't matter.
Also, I'm really interested in seeing the way that Eithan is guiding Yerin, because he's spent so much time and energy on Lindon that I really don't know what's in store for her.
