These chapters were a little awkward for me as I realized that what I THOUGHT the author was doing wasn't actually what was happening. I thought that Lillia would be the babe-in-the-woods naive type, and everyone else would begin to figure out that she'd been played. It...did not happen that way.
Meanwhile, Lorkin is learning how to make the stones that can perform magical functions with the Traitors, and he's learning about the connection with this magic and "High Magic" which is what enables these stones to be empowered. Interesting!

In this section, Yerin is struggling with the fact that Red Moon Hall are going to be attacking, fueled by the very same monstrous energy that killed her family. Meanwhile, Lindon is trying to decide if he should go with her even though he is SURE he's not ready. Basically, everyone has choices to make and there's a bit of a struggle there. But the power of FRIENDSHIP wins in the end!

I start off describing some issues connecting with Crowdcast which turned out to be a precursor to the computer meltdown which lost me that Dresden Files episode. Shortly after recording this I found out that the locally recorded file was corrupted, and I had to pull the sound from Crowdcast.
I'm really interested in the direction the show is taking in focusing on one of the other women's attachment to her ex. The fact that this is the first episode whose title doesn't include Josh's name, and that's really a beautiful bit of information about where Rebecca's head is at.

So these chapters are the ones in which we find out that the Dreadgod is coming with a whole damn procession of others, which are very lethal on their own. There are odd bloodspawn creatures as well as humans with a variety of levels of control over bloodshadows within themselves.
Also, Jai Chen sister is a badass and I'm super curious what's going to happen to them.

This episode is the final one for Siege & Storm and it was an ending that I'm not totally happy with, but I'm really trying to withhold judgment because there's some potential for things to get cleaned up or at least made more interesting in the next book.
The main issue I keep running into is just how much Bardugo leans on romance in this trilogy so far, versus in Six Of Crows where it felt like a very slow, restrained burn. She has come a long way as an author, and even more than the timing in the other series, I think what mattered was the characters. I just liked everybody more! So I'm not sure at this point it's a problem that can be fixed.
I guess we will just have to wait and see!

I'm amazed that enough time has passed for us to get to the Jai Long/Lindon confrontation already, and I'm also amazed at how little of this I saw coming. Turns out that I was wrong about Eithan taking things from that treasure trove to force Jai Daishou to steal something specific, but that does NOT mean that Jai Daishou made the right call.
Also, Lindon has lost an arm. Ouch. T

What a great episode this was. Of course it's super satisfying to have Rebeccas FINALLY realize what we've known all along, namely that Josh isn't the actual issue. But even more than that, it's great to watch her be surrounded by friends who are so supportive and care about her so much, and to watch her LET them care even though it's tough at first.
Also, there's the issue with her diagnosis, which is really interesting because I haven't seen BPD dealt with on a show before, so I'm very curious to see how it's handled.

But before we get to that, we get to see a really hilarious montage of Jai Daishou going to a variety of powerful beings, trying to get their help in taking down Eithan Aurelius specifically, and not a single one of them has any interest in helping. It would be infuriating if I didn't hate his ass so much.

This episode is all about Rebecca's hopelessness and feelings of total isolation and despair, and how much self-loathing she has about the things she said to her friends. The irony of the episode is that every time we go back to West Covina, all we see are her friends worrying about her and wanting to see her and hoping she's okay...but Rebecca just thinks that they never want to see her again. Ugh.
