I'm so excited because we get introduced to a new character this episode, who I have a feeling is going to be recurring and maybe a member of the gang. He's truly delightful and a real departure in terms of abilities and especially in terms of the perspective of the human characters.
I'm really not sure what to make of the situation with Bai Ro and Yerin, because she basically leaves him behind and I don't know if that's going to help or hurt her case after trying to kill him. But whatever! We've got a road trip ahead with just her and Mercy and I'm absolutely here for it.

This episode really had its highs and lows. On the high side, I'm very VERY into this new romance that Mac has got going on with this adorable eyebrow guy who wants to save the planet and kiss puppies and pet kittens. On the low side, Veronica is a dink who gets back together with Logan because she's not giving herself enough time to get over him and mistakes that for wanting him back.
I mean, we've all been there, I guess.
Oh, and also there's been a murder.

I can't believe I'm already at the end of Skysworn y'all. I mean, this book absolutely tears along at a pace I would never have thought sustainable, and there's something in me at the end that loves how our little crew are NOT the ones to take on a Dreadgod like one might expect from another property. We get to see how truly out of their league this thing really is, and I'm honestly terrified by it.
Because apparently it's not gone, it's just waiting for backup.

I'm so delighted that the whole thing with Naki and Lillia is taken care of this episode. I just wasn't really sure how much longer that was going to go on, and considering how irritated I was last episode, I really think it's for the best that that storyline be wrapped up. Supposedly Naki will be executed, but I have an idea that I'm going to be seeing her causing more trouble before this is over.
Meanwhile, Lorkin and Tyvara are hooking up for the first time, and Dannyl is off with the Duna tribe making some deals to rep for them to the Kyralians in exchange for some info on how these badass stones work. He decides no to share that info later, and I wonder if that will bite him or not.

Hoo boy, everyone. This was a rough one. I'm only realizing now as I type this up that this episode shows us a return to the title ending in an exclamation point, and I'm pretty concerned that this could mean a return to some of Rebecca's past behavior. On a more continuous basis than just this episode, I mean.
I just didn't really like the premise of the conflict Nathaniel, I don't like how watered down his character has become, and I'm not terribly interested in the whole thing with Daryl and the baby. The one real high point of this episode was Josh getting kicked out by his mom.

In these penultimate chapters, I talk about the remainder of chapter 13 because I ran out of time on the last one, and I get into the chapters where Lindon tries out for the Skysworn and seems to barely make it out alive, while Mercy from the Akura clan comes out in first place....somehow? It's tough to know what's going on with Mercy, but I like her so far. It's too bad her family doesn't seem to.

These chapters were a little awkward for me as I realized that what I THOUGHT the author was doing wasn't actually what was happening. I thought that Lillia would be the babe-in-the-woods naive type, and everyone else would begin to figure out that she'd been played. It...did not happen that way.
Meanwhile, Lorkin is learning how to make the stones that can perform magical functions with the Traitors, and he's learning about the connection with this magic and "High Magic" which is what enables these stones to be empowered. Interesting!

In this section, Yerin is struggling with the fact that Red Moon Hall are going to be attacking, fueled by the very same monstrous energy that killed her family. Meanwhile, Lindon is trying to decide if he should go with her even though he is SURE he's not ready. Basically, everyone has choices to make and there's a bit of a struggle there. But the power of FRIENDSHIP wins in the end!

I start off describing some issues connecting with Crowdcast which turned out to be a precursor to the computer meltdown which lost me that Dresden Files episode. Shortly after recording this I found out that the locally recorded file was corrupted, and I had to pull the sound from Crowdcast.
I'm really interested in the direction the show is taking in focusing on one of the other women's attachment to her ex. The fact that this is the first episode whose title doesn't include Josh's name, and that's really a beautiful bit of information about where Rebecca's head is at.
