The International Boxing Federation champion has a massive comeback match in London, on 30 April 2021, where he will be defending his title from the 25 year old British professional boxer, Sunny Edwards, who has held the British super-flyweight title since 2019.

Runners in South Africa and around the world will be able to join in the celebratory spirit of the Comrades Marathon Centenary via its 2nd virtual event in the race’s 100-year long history.

The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has announced that entries for the Comrades Centenary Hope Challenge virtual event will open on Thursday, 25 March 2021 at 12h00.

Sadly due to danger of shark attacks most swimming events across False Bay have been discontinued but four relay swimmers are set to attempt the fastest crossing of in a 35km ocean swim across False Bay with the goal of setting the fastest relay crossing and raising the profile of the swim.

With one of the most challenging marathon swims in the world - a distance equivalent to that of the English Channel - set for Friday the swimmers have been anxiously awaiting the optimal winds and water temperatures to break the world record.

Gerhard Botes (67) was born in the Western Cape and grew up in the Hex River Valley where his family farmed with grapes. From there, life took him on a few interesting journeys that led to him working at Sasol,

Eskom, the mines, and the high roads into Africa as a truck driver respectively. For the last 32 years, he earned his bread and butter as a cameraman at the SABC.
