The road to the end of the 2023/2024 NHL regular season is coming down the road but before we get there we’ve gotta get through the All-Star break which marks the end of the first half of the season and that’s in February.

To get there we have to get through one game at a time and that brings us to Pittsburgh where the Penguins are gearing up for the first of two meetings in the regular season against the Vancouver Canucks who come into this game coming off a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins return home for this game against the Vancouver Canucks coming off a 4-1 victory against the Pennsylvania state rivals in Philadelphia on Monday night in Philadelphia where they got a little taste of revenge against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Two teams meeting for the first time in the 2023/2024 NHL season but only one team can come out on top.

PWHL Toronto and PWHL New York last played against each other in Toronto Ontario at the Mattamy athletic centre where Toronto played their first home game of many on Monday, January, 1st, 2024.

Ella Shelton scored the league’s first goal in the history of the PWHL hockey league and in the history of PWHL New York’s franchise and it was their goaltender in Corinne Schroeder who made some more history by posting the first ever shutout in the history of professional women’s hockey and also the history of the PWHL New York franchise in New York’s 4-0 win over Toronto in Toronto’s home opener.

Now as the two teams meet again this time inside of Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport Connecticut just 60 miles from New York Toronto is looking for a much better performance in their 2nd meeting with New York as they prepare for battle in New York on the night of New York’s home opener.

So will Toronto get even with New York when they play again on Friday night?

Will New York break the trend of the home teams losing in their home opener?
